I do not believe that is true. In most cases they will mail you the last check.

No. It varies by state law. Calfornia, for example, requires 24 or 48 hours for that check, unless the checks come from out of state in which a reasonable amount of time is allowed. More than two weeks would be very unreasonable.

In the US, when you're terminated from work, the employer is responsible to give you your final pay no later than the next pay day applicable to your work performed.
(Is this somehow a religious question?)
A lot of silly answers here. Labor law does not require employers to act outside their agreements to pay you on regular pay days, nor does it require checks be mailed to you, nor does it require employers to wait for items to be turned in.
If you have something that belongs to an employer, it has nothing to do with your paycheck. The only thing your employer can do is charge you with theft. They're not allowed to take anything out of your pay, and they're not allowed to withold your pay as a ransom.
Many employers are developing automated pay systems, and they are even outsourcing their payroll and would be unduly encumbered to produce a single paycheck outside the regular pay cycle. Labor law does not ask an employer to inconvenience itself in this way.

Depends on state law. Not a federal(national) law there. I know if you were to get fired from my job, they would escort you off the property and you're never allowed back. So they mail you the check, or allow a relative permission to pick it up.

They will mail it to you. Check your state laws. I know some states have the whole billing cycle to pay you, others it is a 24-48 hr period. What did you do? Photocopy your butt?

... If you request it in writing, yes, they are required to give you your paycheck within 24 hours, at least in my state. It can backfire, thought....
A while back, my husband had direct deposit. He quit and asked for his final paycheck in writing. It was given to him, and we thought that was that....
Then on what would have been his next payday, his paycheck was direct deposited into our checking account... and un-deposited, wreaked havoc with our finances for a month!
