Religion & Spirituality - 5 March 2007

Have you ever actually read about other religions? I mean from reliable sources, not from the media. Did you know that the Bible actually TELLS you to do this? It's not a suggestion, it's actually a command.

Look:

1 John 4:1-3 (New American Standard Bible)
Testing the Spirits

1) Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2) By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;

3) and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

There's the criteria you need. Now, will you read about different religions? The more we learn, the better.

Is having a "Free will" good? Many Christians say: "God gave us free wills and he will judge us according to this". Having free will doesn't abolish the fact the God knows every single thing; past, present or future, so He knows what our choices will be, without interfering with them, letting us pick what we please. I believe this is free will. Ok! Is it good? God already knows that some people will choose the "wrong" choice, but still He didn't interfere! So why didn't He NOT give us free will and just made us all believers, so we could all end up in heaven? It isn't fair to not do so. That being said: Free will just sucks, who wants it?! Let's all enjoy heaven!

According to Pascal's Wager it's better to believe in god so that you can go to heaven. To me that sounds like an insurance policy for your soul. So if that's the case then wouldn't it be better then to be Polytheists and worship all of the God's such as Ra, Zeus, Quetzlcoatzl, Ahura Mazda, Shiva, Odin and all the gods known to mankind to make sure that you don't go to hell? For all the Atheists, FreeThinkers, Humanists,fellow Agnostics and all else I mentioned Pascal's Wager so drink up lol. To all Polytheists I apologize. I don't mean to insult you guys.

At least to my knowledge those r the only ones with it in there. Some label it as 20-22 but it's a good Scripture. It says, "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." I'm confused.

Why do Christians hate the Qu'ran because of its violence and the violence of Mohammed? Christianity is twiice as violent! Look at Christian history. Not only Catholics...all had witchhunts, bigotry, anti-semitism, racism, war etc. Your Bible is jsut as violent as the Koran. *Sigh* and I'm sure someone will make an ignorant statement about suicide bombers. THOSE ARE JUST RADICALS!!! Christian radicals were just as bad.

The truth is both religions preach peace as well as violence, and there actions reflect the truth.
