My Pastor preached on reaching the 4 billion lost souls of the world. This is missionary month at our church and our focus is on reaching the lost. I came out of there very motivated. He mentioned giving out tracts at fast food stops, so I stopped at Wendy's and gave the girl at the drive through a tract.

What did you Pastor preach on today? How was the music?

i have heard time and time again that thought is energy. Thought creates reality; our lives are influenced by our thoughts. Visualization is supposed to be a powerful tool that can help us overcome obstacles and achieve the seemingly unattainable. I have tried it for years now and am no closer to fulfilling my dreams. I feel quite jaded and wish that there was some truth to the belief that the universe is loving and caring and that it listens to us. How do I believe when I see such cruel acts and monstrous behaviour?

It is so cool to see populations of organisms change in their genomes in response to selective pressures. Bacterial populations can pick up antibiotic resistance in a day. The scientific community has unfortunately watched the evolution of huge numbers of antibiotic resistant bacterial strains in the wild over the last decades. The SARS virus genome changed dramatically in the first human infections. The mutations occurred in the gene that encodes the protein that specifies binding of the virus to cells, presumably adapting to growth in humans. Because we can see large numbers of changes concentrated in certain areas and not in others, it suggests those changes were important for adaptation. We have over 100 SARS genomes sequenced and you can watch the changes (mutations) over time. HIV is currently evolving to be drug resistant; you can watch the genome changing. One of the most amazing things you can see in viral genomes is that they actually steal genes from the host organism

In Reno, there is a convicted child sex offender who has honestly put himself in front of a church. He wants to attend and possibly become a member of this church.
How do you, as a Christian, show the love of Christ and still protect your children?

I've just been told that we are given "strengths and weaknesses" from God. So... God purposefully GIVES us strengths and weaknesses. Do we agree on this? If you don't agree then this question doesn't really pertain to you. I'm only asking people who espouse this belief.

Now, a few questions:

What qualifies as a "strength"? How do any of us know what we should consider a strength? Should we recognize God as responsible for making us capable of putting these strengths into practice? Does it work the same way with our weaknesses?

I was reading a passage from your book; you know-the Qur'an---and interestingly came upon this passage of wording:

"We granted not to any human being immortality before you, then if you die, would they live forever? Every soul shall have a taste of death; and We test you by evil and by good by way of trial. To Us you will be returned." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 21, Verses 34-35

Wow, I thought to myself! THAT is intense. So, my question for all of you who know this passage; and ONLY for those of you who have vividly, and UNMISTAKENLY experienced this taking and returning unto the Muslim people.....could you PLEASE tell me your story?

I AM BEING AS SERIOUS AS CHILDBIRTH HERE>>>SERIOUS LIKE SIN.....PLEASE!~ TELL ME YOUR EXPERIENCE>????
Please, do tell!!!!
^7^

I was born and raised Catholic, and since childhood I have never been comfortable praying to Jesus or Mary or the saints, in fact it feels evil. I have since kept a relationship with GOD and GOD alone, but now that my Priest, my Church and My parents know this is how I feel, they beleive I am under attack form SATAN. I think that they sound crazy. Everything I have experienced praying to GOD only has been good, but when I pray to Jesus or anybody else it feels wrong!

Let's face it, there is nothing intelligent about intelligent design, and pi does not equal three. With as much as Christianity contributes to the "dumbing down" of society, doesn't it make sense that the government supports it so strongly to keep the majority of it's populace hidebound flunkies incapable of making informed, educated decisions?

There is no devil equivalent in Hindu mythology and culture....

There is only Yama - the lord of death (and justice !) - no evil instinct per se.... and he reports to Shiva. Yama has a hell, but its not equivalent to Hell in Christian ideology...its more like a purgatory

Both good and evil, dark and light are under Gods' purview

Sure, there are a lot of minor baddies around in Hindu mythology, but no supreme evil - no concept of devil/Satan
------

What could be the possible impacts on the social psyche of the people growing under such a cultural milieu over the millenia, as compared to cultures with a devil concept ?

------
Incidentally, Yama appears in Chinese and Japanese mythology too
