I've just been told that we are given "strengths and weaknesses" from God. So... God purposefully GIVES us strengths and weaknesses. Do we agree on this? If you don't agree then this question doesn't really pertain to you. I'm only asking people who espouse this belief.
Now, a few questions:
What qualifies as a "strength"? How do any of us know what we should consider a strength? Should we recognize God as responsible for making us capable of putting these strengths into practice? Does it work the same way with our weaknesses?

Whoops, I misspelled it... silly me...
What is a "strength"?
Sorry about the typo... I hope you aren't going to focus on that. Then again, if you'd rather do that than answer the question, do what you must.

I think a strength is an area that you are strong in that can be used to do God's work. For example if you are very outgoing and a good speaker, God might want to use you for preaching or something like that. Or if you a more quiet but creative, you can spread God's word through writing.
So yes, God is to one who gave us the capability to use these strengths.
As for weaknesses- God has a reason for them. They may be something you have to work through to complete yourself as a person, or complete somebody else.

Strengths and weaknesses are personal between a believer and Christ. We don't know other believers strengths and weaknesses until they tell us I do agree that God does give them to you like he gives us our own personal spiritual gifts, but we only know what they are. A strength can be anything that you can do well and that you do for God, and a weakness is just the opposite. We should do everything for God's glory.

Strengths, or talents (you can look up verses about talents), are gifts from God. Its like saying, "I am good at singing, so I'll give glory to God through singing, and can minister to others through my singing." or "I'm very charismatic, so I can preach to others about the Good News!" We should thank God for these abilities, and use them to glorify God.
Weaknesses are areas that people struggle with, either spiritually or physically. There are naturally greedy people, lustful people, and lazy people. These acts are all sins against God, and should try to be fixed, but it is harder for these people than it is for others. I'm not sure about God specifically giving out weaknesses, though. I'll have to look for that.
I hope I cleared it up a little for you, thanks for your time.

So you're saying that if we don't believe in god we're exempt from saying what we consider to be human strength and weaknesses?

well if we read the book of genesis we will find that initially we had neither because we were ignorant as babies are... our eyes were closed.
but because of our ignorance and a thing called satan we became knowledgele and we also became like god being able to learn, discern, and feel and ultimaltey these things have sideeffects because we are human and can never be like GOD... as his only weakness is his un dying love for all of us

Yes, I guess I agree. It simply means that God has given us our personalities and our spirit and we will be strong in some things and weak in others. In otherwords, everyone has things they do well, and things they are not very good at.

All of us have things we are good at and things we are not good at. You might be a patient person but poor at forgiveness.
Every one is different. God helps us with both to become better people.
