I know the two words are somewhat similar, but I want to know what distinguishes them. An example might be nice, too.

the reason I ask is that when I go to my religious relatives homes, they seem to have only 5 or 6 books - the Bible and a few cook books.

"Behold, the 'old' man is passed away, and the 'new' man is reborn." -- thus says The Bible

Yep, sounds like reincarnation to me. You were "reincarnated" into a holy-rollin, Bible bashing, hellfire-obsessed drone.

I just can't believe what he told me. If God is our Creator, then how on God's earth would he just allow one person to know Him? What about the rest of the human race that He allowed to live here?

... and does this make them inherently less able to make decisions.

The reason I ask is that many financial scams seem to play on religion (ok, religion IS a financial scam, but separate issue) and it seems more often than not the victims are believers.

People who are skeptical by nature (about religion and other things) appear, not surprisingly, to be less susceptible to coersion and trickery.

I know this sounds insulting, but I think it's a legit question and I'd appreciate sincere answers.

And, as usual, Bible passage quotations get an automatic thumbs down.

the gilgamesh is a bed time .story wrote by a unknown auther more than 4,000 years ago. several copies exist. some have been written on clay a few on wood which have allowed carbon dateing .now before we fire up a crusade or jihad. should we ask if a man of 900 years of age could build a boat large enough to hold fifty-one million know species. both the bible and the koran say animals and man where created at the same time. now, most people can see that a boat large enough to contain food, water and animals would have to be the size of england. ask a chiratian and yes that is the inspired word of god ask a muslem and yes noah was a great prophet ask a unbrainwashed seven year old and he would think that you are crazy.

None of Hindu puranas nor Bhagavad Gita quoted that non-Hindus should not enter Temples. HInduism preaches tolerance to other religions. But why our temple priests always act stupidly and create a big hue and cry when ever a person belonging to other religion visits our temples. The most recent Puri Temple episode is height of stupidity by our temple priests. Why the temple should be closed and trouble devotees just because an American visited Puri Jagannadh Temple? When ever a Hindu visits a Church he/she is most welcome there. Our so called swamis like Shankaracharya and others always feel bad that Hinduism is dieing and we must revive it. If we do this kind of stupit acts how can we get respect among people belonging to other religions?

sent here by Satan or however that whole thing worked. Some of us fell from the sky and were just cursed to start with. We were/are put here to test the true Christians (who are actually very rare). Given that this is my destiny, what am I supposed to be doing? Why do you guys keep getting on my case when I already know what my destiny is?

And how do people getting off claming themselves to be going to heaven, even though they are supposed to be living in the image of God. I don't see you constantly asking for forgiveness when you sin, both in your mind, your speech, or your physical actions. If you're not living daily for him, you are not going to Heaven. Just because you go to church on Sunday doesn't mean that you are living right and have a free ride or ticket to heaven, right? I mean, you have to live in his image and SAVE all of us. Right? Right? Right? So anyway, what am I, a fallen angel, supposed to do? ....other than help you question your own faith....

1 Peter 4:1 says that anyone who has suffered in the flesh (he means for your Christian faith) has ceased from sin. But if you cease from sin you are perfect, sinless. And no one will ever be perfect while we're still in the flesh. Can anyone with wisdom explain this to me??

The duplicates paradox

Here is a very fascinating paradox, I often think of it. Let us assume that we can make an exact duplicate of you. I know how this is completely impossible, but let us use our imagination and say this is in the far future. If you were to die, and later a duplicate of you were to be created would this duplicate be you? Here is why I think it is fascinating, a lot of materialist will say it is not. But when asked to give a reason why it is not them they can not give a good reason.

Now let us add another factor. If by mistake you were still alive and a duplicate of you were to be made, then which would be the real you?

Honestly now, does this not throw you into complete confusion, take a few seconds and think about it. If they are not both you, then what is it that separates you from the duplicate.

Would you be willing to kill yourself to be duplicated at a later time? Why or why not?

Why or why not? I have had two partners- a child with one. Now that I have changed my life around I would like to abstain. Would this be hard for a christain man to understand. I know they should not judge me but, would the guy have a hard time with this if the dated me?

Apart from South Africa and countries in North Africa the whole continent suffers from AIDS, civil war, corruption, dictatorship, human rights abuses, slow economic growth rates, starvation...You basically have dictator after dictator taking over and using up all available monies to fund private armies. With its geographic importance, natural resources, and wildlife, Africa should be a much better place. I can't help but wonder if the continent was actually better off under the Europeans. Why is it so backward?

Mark 13:10: "And the good news (the Gospel) must first be preached to all nations."
I guess we are very near the end then. Almost all nations have already heard about Jesus, I think only some tribes in Africa and Asia haven't. It's just a matter of a couple of years before this world ends!

I mean this sort of childish nonsense might be acceptable among the 4 year old set, but most of you are supposed to be adults. Putting your fingers in your ears and yelling "la la la la la" at your age is just pathetic. Worse, having SO little faith in your religion that you'd have to resort to having my account deleted just shows me that I'm on the right track. And it shows others too.
Besides, Yahoo gives us unlimited accounts so you're efforts are utterly in vain.
