Tommorow is my father's 70th birthday. (I am in my 20's the youngest of 8, oldest is 49. :D) My stepmother called me last Monday to tell me that she has put together a little party for him at thier church. Fellow church memebers as well as family is traveling in for the party. (More of a get together really) My question isn't should I go to his party, but my stepmother said that I could come to the service before the party.

My hesitation with doing so is because of a few things. When I moved out I told my stepmother that I was not going to attend thier church no longer. She used thier church as almost a punishment for me when I was younger. (Not sunday services) Both parents have always been apart of different groups and meetings and such within thier church. They would always bring me along and my stepmother would insist on having me sit in the coat room and wait sometimes 3-4 hours til thier meetings were done. (She never allowed me to sit in with them) Or she had me waiting in

How could his death have taken care of our sins if it was only temporary?

Oh and by the way, what was the big sacrifice? Many many people have suffered far worse than he.

I see questions asking why atheists ask questions.
I see people questioning the Bible.
I see questions about evolution and creationism.

But, what I never see is this:

Why are fundamentalist so easily threatened?

If they believe, then they shouldn't be so sensitive. Their sensitivity makes me feel insecure about their relationships with God.

If someone doesn't agree with their beliefs - why does that threaten them so? Or, are they just looking for an argument?

I'm not threatened - I know what I believe. And what someone else believes does not change my mind.

Matthew 6:5-6: "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men....when thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret...."

I am not referring to being sperned and feeling really bad for a few weeks, I mean a broken heart that could last 5, 10, or 15 years.

How do you mend a broken heart?

(I acknowledge evolution, and I believe in logical consequences, but how could a broken heart be a logical consequence of evolution alone?)

We learn in church that God's knowledge is limitless.
Then we learn that he knows everything.

Can the unlimited be self contained (limited, known)?

Containing the uncontainable is impossible, for that imposes boundaries on that which has no bounds. Indeed, the 2 are a contradiction to each other. Finite infinity is not possible.

This impossible contradiction kills the authenticity of a living God.

Thats a possiblity right? If hell and heaven exists, and anyone can go to either, then your parents could be roasting in hell while your drinking Corona's in heaven.

Could you deal with that? Would you have no problem smiling at God, who created all things and is the boss of all things so is ultimately liable for hell and your parents eternal suffering.

a question? :)

I was just reported for "not a question or an answer" so I thought I needed help with understanding what a question was.

How about this. Is this a question: "How stupid are you to TELL someone that you're reporting them, because they'll just remove the question, you nimrod."

Does "nimrod" negate the question? What would your example be?
