If someone called your mother names that were completely untrue and you knew they were untrue, does that mean you wouldnt get annoyed or angry or frustrated at them?
What annoys a lot of Christians is that one of the biggest arguments non christians or non religious people have with them is that they are judgemental or closeminded. Then those same people judge Christians and have no desire to really understand or be open to what Christians believe or how they feel about specific issues. It is just straight out hyppocritical.
Everyone should question at some point the things they were raised to believe. But to assume that Christians havent just because they end up choosing the same beliefs isnt fair.
As for your questions about looking for an argument. I really think that is unfair to ask that just of fundamentalists. Some of the most mean spirited and argumentable points have been those against Christians. So that question is a bit loaded.
I am not threatened by anyone elses beliefs. But what seems to be a trend lately is that it is perfectly acceptable to bash people based on religion. When someone bashes a persons fundamental beliefs, that person is going to take it a bit personal, esp when its perfectly acceptable nowadays to bash on them. Debating, questioning and proclaiming your own beliefs is a lot different then just bashing. Those that sincerely just want to question and debate and not bash I tend to find delightful. It is the other group that just like to bash that are rude and obnoxious, on all sides of any issue.

Fundamentalism means never having to open your mind. They don't like anything that makes them think.
Anyways, to answer your question: No I'm not insecure with my religion, but then again I'm not a Christian and I don't feel the need to try and make others believe as I do.

i actually agree
like i see attacks from athiests and christians about muslims, but i dont take them personally
i either ignore it, or if i see that its going to influence people's minds about muslims- ill step in and correct it or offer a different view.
im into the politics of this debate; and i know that with ignorance, you get discrimination. i dont wanna play the victim here because i dont feel myself to be one. im very proud of what i believe in. at the same time, i want to stand up for the truth- i.e if someone is telling lies on a forum or pretending to be a muslim (there was a thread where this girl says she was having sex with her cousin and taking drugs) ill step in especially where, surprisingly large numbers of respondents appear to have been taken in by the false info
there's an information war out there. we all have to be educated with information that is correct. but the point of religion is to strenghten your relationship with God (monotheistic ones anyway) and make your life sacred for God - that is a personal obligation for us,
so what does that have to do with me being on these forums? i help others on the quest for answers and to learn about other people and their situations. i never attack any other religion nor do i feel embarrassed about what i believe in when people try to attack what i believe.

Good point. I give my answer, then people can take it or leave it. I know what I believe and I am not threatened ( my beliefs) anyway.

True Christians are secure and stand firm in their faith in God. We are not threatened but are totally reassuring of ourselves. It is the lost souls of the world who who feel threatened because they don't know why they were born or who they are..........We know what they believe also.......their father the devil and the lies he feeds them. They are already fooled and threatened by the fact that their mind is not their own but of a convoluted cesspool of rancid decay and misguided thoughts. They live their lives in the torment of darkness and hide themselves from light of the truth........ We are defenders of the one and only true faith..........Christianity

I am a christian and I am not threatened in any way, nor do I worry about why someone else is threatened.

Is there a specific question here? WHo is threatened, by whom? You are generalizing. The people on her, be it Christians, Jews, Agnostics or what ever, are such a small, minute representation of the world popluation, they mean absolutely nothing. This is a fun place and a place to vent. It is not a scientific survey.

If they can't handle a few tough questions about their religion they should either study it some more, or try something else that they can stand up for.
