""Look," God said, gazing down on what man was doing, "the people have one language, and work together for a common purpose. If we don't put a stop to it, nothing that they purpose to do will be too hard for them. Let's go down and confound their language, so that they can't understand one anothers speech."
That really makes God seem like a jerk...or a spoiled little kid kicking over anthills.

Nimrod was the son of Semiramis, who gained control over the masses by claiming that her her dead husband's son, which was inside her womb at the time was conceived miraculously.
When her son, Nimrod was born, she married her son and said he was a God.
She instituted the "confessional" (which she used to blackmail her subjects) and Nimrod was responsible for astrology. Their story was one of the inspirations behind the politicians who wanted to create a world religion that could be used to develop a world superpower - Christianity.
In fact, it was early statues of Semiramis and NImrod (Queen of heaven and her son) that later became the statues of the virgin Mary and Jesus.
