I've been taught that Salvation is what gift Christ provided for us. I've also been taught that we have to work towards that act of Salvation, not just believe He did it, in order to go to Heaven at our death..

can live a total and completely sin free life or as sin free as humanly possible be sent to hell because he's never heard of christianity while an evangilist in America that sins up a storm just simply has to ask forgiveness and he's off to heaven. Now I know what your good book says but I am looking for a common sense explanation for this.

The challenge here is to think of a 'wrong' that you might do unto another person, or to society generally. A crime, but not necessarily a crime.. maybe something bad in a relationship... anything.

Try to state a wrong, and how you would right it... right it, to me, means both in the victim's mind, and in your own.

Try to choose a unique one, or criticise or suggest a different solution to one someone else already used!

Thanks again!
:) J

Last weekend Veggie Tales was on. I thought oh ok this is the 700club thing that has religious overtones. The charachters were trying to find the comb of sampson. I thought thats cute.

Then at the end one of the charachters said sampson got his strength from his faith in God. I changed the channel. Hopefully spongebobsquarepants was on at that time.

This morning my son asked to watch "garden tales". To which I said no son, we aren't going to watch that show.

My question is to other Atheist and Agnostic parents, would you let your children watch Veggie Tales, in which the charachters allude to getting strength from God?

Jim Darwin Jr. will not be watching.

80-99% - that is four-firths identical to virtually identical. the actual similarity is more in the 95-99 percentage range but I am going to cut creationists off at the knees here by taking a deliberate wider margin.

Now, if god created man seperate from the animals, how do we explain this? If we are god's greatest creation why did he take a couple of shortcuts or something? And why would he leave such obvious traces of evolution? Did he not expect us to become smart enough to examine DNA evidence?

1. All good people of all faiths will be rewarded in this life and in the afterlife.

2. Jesus is the only way to heaven. Compassionate Jews, Buddhists, etc., are destined to go to hell.

Please explain why you feel the way you do.

Isn't Christianity based on the death and resurrection of Jesus? This is what the cross stands for, so how can Mormons be Christians if they do not use and appreciate the cross? Do they use some other symbol? Christians also believe God to be the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit in one, do Mormons believe this?

An end to all religions and sects? A world without belief in God? Fully scientific and secular human civilization? All religions apart from Islam have been neutralized and secularized. No country is officially Christian, Hindu, Jewish. Not India, not Israel, not Italy. Why shouldn't people's belief in God and religion stay as long as its bad effects are minimized? What proof is there that God doesn't exist, if there's no proof that God does? How about the disadvantages of an increasingly secular culture - The crime rates, the sex rates, the suicide rates, and the replacement of Western cultural and historical identity by foreign influences?

I mean, they can't try desperately to poke a hole in a reasonable theory and then at the same time honestly
believe that a giant spirit dropping off people he made of clay "just because" on a tiny speck of a planet in a million oceans of galaxies just to 'test' them makes more sense.
Yeah, and it's not the 'big bang'! God "spoke it into existence"! that makes SO much more sense.

Creationists can't possibly think they have any credibility and are in any position to criticise evolution when their alternate belief which makes more sense to them is
1) based on a book 2) completely supernatural.
Can you imagine if scientists adopted that nonsensical belief system because the "bible said so", it ultimately sets science back to the dark ages, just like it had been doing for hundreds of years.

Creationists really do want to halt discovery based on superstition and foundationless fear.
