Consider this against the backdrop of a modern, scientific, reason-based era. Even with a better understanding of the natural world, would the human emotional impulse to construct myths be overcome? Or would the virus of religion finally stop spreading?

This is a purely hypothetical question about the human MIND. I'm not suggesting you go out an kill anyone.

I've seen a few anime through the years. And my concern is that they always focus on characters going to hell and everything.
So my question is do they beleieve in a Heaven? Where do they think they go after they die? or after they''ve had like tons of reencarnations??

Please cite a reliable scholarly source detailing the discovery of Noah's Arc? Why hasn't this been seen in National Geographic or Time or the newspapers

Oh, and this being the age of the internet, please provide links to pictures. I would like to see what the remains of Noah's Arc looks like.

Jesus died for your felonies? Murder is a sin and a felony

How in the hell is this belief making anything better?

You're "nothing" without God? Are you crazy? You dont like yourselves do you?

The bible is a guide? You need a book to tell you that murder is wrong? You're a dangerous person

Everyone falls short of the grace of God?

Fall short by how much? Fall short to the point of killing innocent babies? Where's the limit?

Only god can judge? So it's wrong to tell a person that raping kids is wrong? This is sick

You try to live like Christ? Some serial killers tried to live like Christ but they couldn't resist killing one more innocent person

I dont understand? Of course I understand. YOU dont understand or can't accept how evil your belief actually is

Religion is meant to be a good thing at least that was the intention. Unfortunaltly shortly after most religions were concieved man used it for his own gain. For money or so the people would fight for a cause normally nothing to do with religion. Now dont get 6me wrong if people want to pratice any religion as long as it hurts no one thats fine with me. But to preach to children who are not able to choose for themselves is just wrong. It will effect every decission in their lives. If they want to choose a religion then thats their own choice when their old enough to make it. Its not for any parent to decide. Opinions please. Oh and religious fanatics condem all you want

Sorry for yet another dream interpretation question (this time with two dreams) but I'm not sure of their meaning.

In the first one (which was a few months ago) I was being chased by someone and I jumped off the ground and flew, but not for long. I had some control over the length of the flight, but found that I had to return to earth, and jump off again to be airborne. It was accompanied by a feeling of intense happiness and exhilaration. I think the guy may have caught me at the end but I escaped.

Second dream involves being in a saloon like place, where everyone there has some sort of magical ability. I remember a guy was making a piece of paper or a napkin levitate and was making it float around the room and I found I could do the same thing, and we were playing a game sending the napkin back and forth. Again, there was a feeling of happiness and exhilaration.

I've only had two dreams like this, where I've had any crazy abilities.

Any thoughts would be great.

What do atheists think was the first cause of everything?
We know from the law of cause and effect, and commonsense, that every effect has a cause, and that the effect cannot be greater than the cause. So if we go back far enough into the past, there had to be an original cause, a first cause which must be greater than all other causes and effects, and itself uncaused. So what do atheists think that first cause was? Logical answers only please.

In church today, Jan. 28 there was a reading about love. It was a letter to the people and i remember it saying love is not jealous, quick tempered, rude and such. It also mentioned if you give your body away without love your giving nothing. does anyone know the whole thing? thanks a lot!

I am not talking about religion but rather certain known falshoods or controvercies that are knowingly presented as evidence for evolution.

Also, if you are married, is it a sin to fantasize about someone other than your spouse? Even if you have no intention of acting on your fantasy?

I was to a Baptist and sometimes a Presbyterian Church. I was told if I didn't accept The Lord Jesus Christ, I would burn in Hell. I was also told Jesus was the God of Love. I was even "born again". But a radical Christian group, that I later left; got very insulting if you questioned their beliefs. Also, when I became a Hindu, some Christians told me I was headed for eternal damnation. The Hindus, on the other hand, welcomed questions. They did not get upset if I dissagreed. And they also believed other religions were right. Their Gods Lord Krishna, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Shiva were truely Gods of Love. It was as if the Christians scared me away from Christ. Do the Christians realize you can tell people about Jesus, and not have to threaten them with Hell? A Christian can have tollerance for other religions (maybe Christians feal threatened by Hindu Gods that are full of Love) Why do Christians have to use these methods? Why do they have to scare people into accepting Jesus Christ?

since it states in the book of Matthew, chapter VI verse 8, that god knows what you need before you ask him? Even in the case of praying for the recovery of a sick friend or the soul of a dieing loved one hasn't god already made his decision as to their needs, and if so isn't prayer an exercise in futility and done only for the feel good factor, or should we believe that Gods decisions and actions can be manipulated?
