God is not capable of hate.

What has happened over time is that different people have contributed to what we now know as the bible, and parts of it have been simple fables and allegory. And all of these people have been looking in the sky and trying to interpret who or what God is.

And then all sorts of people today get hold of this collection of manuscripts collectively called the bible, and so many people and organisations have tried to interpret it. Poor interpretations have lead to terrible suffering. Poor writing of the scriptures has lead to terrible suffering and misinterpretation. These are all man-made things.

I agree that the God portrayed in the Old testament seems harsher than the God Jesus advocates.

To me the best of christianity embodies wonderful ideals such as humility and integrity. You see thats my interpretation.

I think the answer to your question is that you have to choose what you think. If you need help with that get hold of some books explaining the bible or try looking at the bible itself.

To me God has been the same since day dot. He is the creator. If the old testament writers want to interpret famines as punishment by God- I don't agree for myself. The God I believe in is the God Jesus Talks about (have a look at the Gospels of Mark or Luke or Matthew)... this is a God of love for all of us despite our failings. A God of love. This is the God I believe in. Which do you?

I really don't think God hates anything he created. God is divine. Above reproach. Hate is a failing, a weakness, a human flaw.

God is a God of love and yet He hates sin, but is not the author of sin.

God hates the wicked. Hate here could be defined as abhors. The term "wicked" is used, loosely, in the Bible for those not right with God.

Even David said, "I hate the assembly of evildoers, And I will not sit with the wicked." Without qualification, I might add that the New Testament message differs - see 1 Cor. 5:10

Very nice.

God is Love
God Hates
Love Hates

Of course, you will be told that God does not hate, but I consider genocide and tossing folks into Hell a pretty hateful act, and there are others. God, as portrayed in the Bible, is jealous, petty, cruel, vindictive, childish, and yes, hateful. So is this the nature of love? If that is the message, then it sure explains a lot.

Regardless of your religious text of chooice, they all have one thing in common: the god or gods in said book dislike for people to disobey them. I don't think it's a matter of "love hates," as you put it. It's more like "love hates it when we don't love God." And when we disobey our god or gods, they don't like it.

No. If you love someone like a child, spouse, or parents you would hate anything evil that would cause them harm.

It is just as easy as saying you love somebody but you might hate something they choose to do especially if you know it is going to hurt them and thus hurts you.

It is not a bad thing to hate.
It all depends what you hate.
Don't you hate lying?
Don't you hate deception?
Don't you hate hypocrisy?
God too.

That always confused me too. The old and new testament gods seem to differ a lot.
