I was to a Baptist and sometimes a Presbyterian Church. I was told if I didn't accept The Lord Jesus Christ, I would burn in Hell. I was also told Jesus was the God of Love. I was even "born again". But a radical Christian group, that I later left; got very insulting if you questioned their beliefs. Also, when I became a Hindu, some Christians told me I was headed for eternal damnation. The Hindus, on the other hand, welcomed questions. They did not get upset if I dissagreed. And they also believed other religions were right. Their Gods Lord Krishna, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Shiva were truely Gods of Love. It was as if the Christians scared me away from Christ. Do the Christians realize you can tell people about Jesus, and not have to threaten them with Hell? A Christian can have tollerance for other religions (maybe Christians feal threatened by Hindu Gods that are full of Love) Why do Christians have to use these methods? Why do they have to scare people into accepting Jesus Christ?

I am sorry you were "scared away" from Christ. Christ is a person and a loving, living relationship is not scary. There are consequences to being outside Christ both in this life and the life to come. Truth is truth after all. But the emphasis should be on the relationship with a loving Lord. btw hell is not a threat its a reality and we warn people so they won't go there. As far as "tolerance" to other religions - would you "tolerate" a stranger with a lollipop enticing your child knowing they intend to kill it? Maybe that's why Christians get so "hung up" on the importance of the only way - because Christ IS the only way...everything else is death.

Some Christians may not realize how they treat people but every person is not the same. It's not a Christians fault because you are now hindu. We can't blame people for what we do. We all have a free will. If they hurt you that bad you could have prayed and found a different church. I'm a christian and to me it ain't about people. It is about the relationship with God. When it is all said and done it's all about the personal relationship with God.

Nagaraja, I really apologize for what you went through with the Christians you encountered. Being born and raised in a Christian home and being a Christian myself, i can truly say that it has saddened me to see how we treat people in our haste to bring them to christ realizing what could happen to them in the last days. And the results of that can be devastating. My point of view in this matter is that using force and rudeness, is really not the right tool here. Rather as Christians, we should love each other no matter what the circumstances may be. I really want to tell you from the bottom of my heart that I love you. I love you because God is love and he doesn't only consider us Christians his children. Everyone in the world is his children, saved or not. Therefore not accepting his word is not going to make him love you any less. I am going to be patient and pray that the holy spirit will speak to you Nagaraja. Because I can't do it on my own. Well may you be blessed throughout your week and remember; God loves you and so do I!

There are flaws in every religion, even Hinduism. Why do you feel the need to belong to an organized religion? God should be enough.

I actually just did a research paper about how the flaws in Hinduism made many Indian Hindus convert to Buddhism and others to Christianity...strange huh?

yo there Nagaraja. The bible teaches us that if someone slaps our face that we are supposed to turn the other cheek. what this means is that if we are teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and it offends a non believer and he slaps our face either literally or figuratively then we are to turn the other cheek. When we plant a seed of christian knowledge in a non believers mind it is up to God as to whether it takes root or not, not us. So we are to plant seeds with patients and tolerance . No, they don't realize it. please understand that Christianity can be taught just as sweetly as any Hinduism. But just because something is taught sweetly does not necessarily mean it is true or good for you. I am sure Hitler could be sweet as pie when he wanted to be. So can a used car salesman. Bad example. So can Satan. Like any father god does not like when someone else tells his child that he is their father and takes the love and credit for things that god has always done for his children everyday.. Can you relate to this ?
Please, DON'T let these people put you off Christianity. swindled.

Actually, I had a similar experience (although not with converting to Hinduism, with Asatru). Many Christians do not realize how much the way they treat people, the way they use Hell as a threat, and the way they won't allow questions turns people off.

Even on this site here, I have only had one, maybe two Christians actually try to convert me "in a nice way"; I've had far more hate mail telling how I'm a devil worshiper who's going to burn in Hell. When I write them back explaining that threats of hell fire is no way to convert people, I either get no reply or they write me back using the cop out that it wasn't them that said it "it was God".

Any religion that is more excepting, more tolerating of different view points, and has Gods who are more loving is seen as a threat. Particularly if said religion allows you to use your mind and question things.

No they don't. But when truth is spoken is it not true that some people will hate it and look else where? Even Jesus said some things that were hard to understand so followers left him.

As far as avoiding hell, don't you think if Jesus and his followers know and believe there is such a place as hell, shouldn't He and they be responsible for warning people not to go there? If he teaches ways for you to believe and behave in life to avoid such a place shouldn't he be responsible to preach that also?

Wouldn't a doctor who is experienced abut a patient who is afflicted with a curable disease, be responsible to tell and warn his patient to change his ways in order to improve his health?

People in the end who have knowledge that can help us are responsible to tell us what they know. If we don't believe and listen to words we want to hear, then that is our own fault.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Let's see.

Not likely all of them. Yes. (to the supposition in parenthesis - not at all) I don't. And again, I don't.

I appreciate that you at least used the word *some* before Christians one time. Go with that impulse, okay? Not *all* Christians do this, are that, think this way....

It's part of their history. If they really want to be protestants, that should be the biggest thing they protest. But for most sects, it's not.
