I watched a show last night called "sex in the bible." it was all about (shocking) sex that was mentioned in the bible. people in those times did some unreal things. My question is this...why did they put those stories in the bible if they were nothing but sin? isn't the bible supposed to teach us good? and if the people that did these things were so holy, did they go to heaven or hell after doing what they did (example would be the 2 daughters who laid with their father and had children by him). if we are taught that we are not forgiven for certain things (10 commandments), then why were biblical people forgiven?

I can understand why so many fundamentalist Christians are so angry and embittered. It must be pretty frustrating to try to appeal to educated young people today with their message that creation of the Universe involved talking serpents, that two-thirds of the human beings on this planet will be suffering in hell for all eternity, that God is some angry, jealous old man in the sky who watches everything we do and tinkers with us and allows us to suffer in hell for all eternity if we don't worship him right, and that the entire human population of the Earth is the result of incestuous sex between Adam and Eve's kids.

Watch their angry, embittered responses to this question and you'll see what I'm talking about.

In light of these and other Islamic texts, the act of inciting terror in the hearts of defenseless civilians, the wholesale destruction of buildings and properties, the bombing and maiming of innocent men, women, and children are all forbidden and detestable acts according to Islam and the Muslims. Muslims follow a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the vast majority have nothing to do with the violent events some have associated with Muslims. If an individual Muslim were to commit an act of terrorism, this person would be guilty of violating the laws of Islam.

These terrorist are misguided, and are not true Muslims. A true Muslim would mourn for the loss of life.

scroll down to the 3rd chapter. there you will find the exact text (above) that i copied/pasted. click on " what does Islam say about terrorism"

take a look and tell me does this soften any cold hearts toward Islam (or MUSLIMS) due to terrorism.? - Maaliki

A couple of years back I had downloaded the first two chapters of a book that talked about a man who talked to god, and who had a dog that could talk. The revelation came to him while he was on the road. He stopped and then followed the voices to a lonely place. I have forgotten the name of the author and the book. Can someone give me a clue?

Whats the strangest thing thats ever happened to you??
Life is full of coincedences and so called unexplained events. ^Many people dismiss these as a trick of the mind where as some become obsessed with it and form serious mental problems. I am somewhere inbetween. Im not religious but do believe we are all enery and that it wont disipate. Tell me about visions, spirits, esp or someother strange event that has happened to you or a friend. Some such events can be put down to the working of the human mind , I am fully aware of that 3,but there are a few that just cant be explained by conventional science these are the ones of interest to me.

Okay, I went out and got the book "Wicca" by Scott Cunningham. I read the whole thing while I was there at the book store. I couldn't put it down, it was such a damn good book. I took a few notes and wrote in the book, underlining things and whatnot. Then I saw the book "Living Wicca" which is like the sequel to the first book and I got that one. I read about half of it and then went to the shop and got some incense and a couple candles because I wanted to go home and cast a circle.

But there's something I don't get about the circle. In the books, it's east=air, south=fire, west=water, and north=earth. But I don't see it that way. North being earth makes no sense to me, and west being water makes no sense either.

I know it says in the books that "if something feels right, then it's right" but he specifically says that the corners are called in that other way. Am I allowed to call the corners the way that I see fit or do I have to stick to a certain way of doing it?

I'm an American born Hindu. I'm curious what other Hindus have to say. I worship Sri Lord Shiva as God. One day I was meditiating on Him as the Supreme Yogi. (It was 1977. I didn't become a Hindu untill 1983).It was the first time I saw Lord Shiva in this form. Suddenly, evertything that existed, even me, was contained in Lord Shiva. After a few moments, all I saw was the cobra around His neck and shoulders. His cobra contained the whole Universe. It became even more beautiful, sacred, and hypnotic than Lord Shiva himself! When I came out of my trance, I was changed. I wanted to worship the live cobra. I wanted to meditate wearing a cobra. The cobra was Lord Shiva. It was non different. I felt this very intently for three days. I still believe this. The cobra is sacred. I believe when Hindus worship the live cobra, it is not a symbol, it is Lord Shiva. I also believe a brass or stone cobra is also Shiva. If I believe this in my heart, soul and mind; is it ok to worship live cobras?

Gays started out claiming only wanting to be accepted. Then they beat up landlords with lawsuits who didn't want their realestate infected with the aberration of homosexuality. Next they assaulted employers for the same reason. After that went after prayer in schools to pave the foundation of seperation church and state in preparation of their final sacriligious attack with Gay Marriage. Well, Isiah, who's done nothing wrong, have no fear God is coming back to re-visit Earth in 2007, to re-moralize righteousness of who should really be in theraphy...

Not that "He", Richard Dawkins. I just e-mailed him, inviting him to either post a "celebrity" question and/or take a look at R&S here at Y!A

So, do you think he will? Or do you think that maybe he's already here?

If anyone else would like to invite him, send e-mail to contact@richarddawkins.net

I respect and can accept that you don't believe in God and everything else that relates to christianity but my question is if you are serious about wanting to know about God,Jesus and the Bible then why do you insist and persist on disrespecting it (christianity) with sarcastic and rude type questions?,is it really necessary?
I know that there are many different beliefs and disbeliefs about God and I'm cool with that because I do live by my motto "Let man believe what he wants to and let God be the judge over who is right and who is wrong."
It is true that everyone here has a right to their opinion which is why I will never report any of you no matter how disrepectful you are to my beliefs.
I don't mind any of you asking questions about God,Jesus, the Bible and Heaven but if you want a serious answer then I and others would appriciate it if you ask your question respectfully.
I'm not suggesting for you to respect christians I'm asking to respect our beliefs.

I am being serious and I want serious answers. I just saw an answer that stated the bible had been proven to be the truth. How can you honestly say it has been proven? I understand about having faith and all...but honestly think about it...what is the real proof that everything that happened in the bible is real? And I would like answers without bible verses please. Give me your thoughts. And I would really not like to hear answers about having faith in the truth. If you are one that says the bible has been proven then show me real proof. Thanks!

Now, I had a question a while ago and it had a couple of people accusing me as Lutheran.O_O Well, I'm not. I don't believe in worshiping some guy, I just had a question of frustration at the Church. Now, Jesus made things easier for us by dying on that cross. He said to get to God we go to Him. Simple. Yet many catholics out there worship Mary and the saints. They were human. I respect them but I don't believe in worshiping them. I believe they're a role model. Not another god.
