I'm an American born Hindu. I'm curious what other Hindus have to say. I worship Sri Lord Shiva as God. One day I was meditiating on Him as the Supreme Yogi. (It was 1977. I didn't become a Hindu untill 1983).It was the first time I saw Lord Shiva in this form. Suddenly, evertything that existed, even me, was contained in Lord Shiva. After a few moments, all I saw was the cobra around His neck and shoulders. His cobra contained the whole Universe. It became even more beautiful, sacred, and hypnotic than Lord Shiva himself! When I came out of my trance, I was changed. I wanted to worship the live cobra. I wanted to meditate wearing a cobra. The cobra was Lord Shiva. It was non different. I felt this very intently for three days. I still believe this. The cobra is sacred. I believe when Hindus worship the live cobra, it is not a symbol, it is Lord Shiva. I also believe a brass or stone cobra is also Shiva. If I believe this in my heart, soul and mind; is it ok to worship live cobras?

God made everything. He isn't "in" everything.
No God tells us not to worship any created thing, whether it be anything that swims in the ocean or birds that fly in the air, nor any creature that walks on the earth.
Kinda covers everything.
Just worship God and be saved.

I'm not going to knock a religion I know nothing about, but if you want an answer to your question, why not ask a leader in your faith? My opinion of it would probably not be the answer you're seeking. But on a perfectly practical level, putting a live cobra around your neck could kill you. Cobras are poisonous snakes, and you'd be putting yourself in extreme danger. So get out of your trance long enough to consider what might happen to you. If you insist on worshipping cobras, do so from a safe distance.

Tell me more! I love how you put those words together, it made your vision vivid in my mind. Indeed, the cosmos must be a living thing, and of all things in this world that best represents the cosmos, the cobra is indeed, the most apt. (did I say "indeed" too many times?) Beautiful, dark, cold, poisonous and powerful. It has us trapped here in its coils. I like this analogy better than Newton's theory of gravity. Is the moon a pearl in the cobra's mouth?

The Paramatma feature of the Supreme is situated in the heart of all living entities, so yes, you can worship this Paramatma within the heart of every living entity including the animals.

(Exo.20:3-17
3 "You shall have no other gods before me.
4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

c'mon... Shiva isn't God you think that God is an animal???u've seen many movies ......God isn't Shiva ....the name of God is Jehova.....He is everywhere but not on animals or things...He's alll over you protecting you and triying to bring you back to the truth of his word.....my advice to you is to get a holy bible, not a mormon ,hidu or whatever, and read it .......
anyway meditation is very dangerous cause the enemy (satan) has a lot of demons who are waiting for you to fall in a trance to get into your very silly heart and to lie to you just like you are now.... a snake on dreams or visions means satan....if you read genesis 1 you'll see what it is really going on....c'mon and go to a church i can see you'r as los as a little stone on the sea.....don't be sillly an go visit a christian church.may God help you ! :-)

We worship God and not demon. with the aid of fact each little thing is God, we could continually worship each little thing. there's no longer something incorrect and basically a individual with none ego can gain this. with the aid of fact our ideas's ability is extremely constrained, we can't choose God.

Better yet - if God is everything, can I worship my cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee?
Furthermore, if God is everything, am I being blasphemous drinking my cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee? Would that be like swallowing God? I never thought about it that way.
