I live in Kansas. You are quite accurately describing some people I know. Amazing that such fundies have political power, but they sure do, both here and in Washington DC.

I am going to repeat Ms. Angelz's syllables: "Wow, you sound like a angry, embittered Atheist ". If you are, then you are doing the same mistake; do not breach what you do not believe in.
If you are not, then let us get to the point: What did you mean by Christian fundamentalists?
I have noticed that lots of people just parrot the word without knowing its real meaning. FUNDAMENTALIST is a word wrongfully used by the media to label certain people. I, myself, do not find anything wrong with being fundamentalist. Here is the definition of the word and its derivatives so that next time when you pose a similar question, you would know the difference:
FUNDAMENT:
1. An underlying ground, theory or principal. 2. a) Buttock. b) Anus. 3. The part of a land surface that has not been altered by human activities.
FUNDEMENT + AL: 1. (root + suffix), something fundamental, especially one of the minimum constituents without which a thing or a system would not be what it is.
FUNDEMEN + AL + Ism: 1. (root + 2 sufixes), a movement or attitude stressing strict and literal adherence to a set of principles.
FUNDEMEN+AL+IST: 1. (root + 2 suffixes), a noun; someone who is as described above.
FUNDEMENT+ AL + LIST + IC: 1. (root + 3 suffixes), an adjective.
In view of the above, the word involve: 1. Principles 2. Adherence 3. Strictness. 4. A thing that is still in its raw material; has not been altered.
Personally, I do not find anything seriously wrong; stupidity, narrow-mindedness, etc., but may be inflexibility, no desire to change and adapt. Some people are like that and we have to respect their attitude since such attitude does not infringe upon our rights.
Your question should have read as follows: Angry, embittered extremists?, though it is still not a question, but a statement or an exclamation.
Anyways, without delving into the definition of EXTREMIST, as we all know what an extremist is, extremism is not a healthy thing, and more likely is based on wrong premises that yield wrong conclusions. In addition, extremists do not stop there, but act out their extremism and hurt people whom they think are standing in their way.
Those Christian, or Jewish, or Muslim, extremists are as you described; angry and embittered, regardless of the subject of their anger and embitterment.
As far as the subject of embitterment is involved, I agree with your explanation, though I do not agree with your cynicism. Cynicism hurt most of the time and should be handled properly and carefully. Leave them be. They can believe that the bony rabbit really lays eggs. Why would you let this get on your nerves?
If those extremists are appealing to the so called educated young people, why should this frustrate you? You have the choice: Either listen to the message they are trying to convey, or let it fall on deaf ears.
I f it is frustrating to them because of rejection, why do you care? It is their progative, not yours.
As for creation vs. evolution. I do not know why there is a big fuss about it; too much ado about nothing. May be they are right, you are right, you both are right, you both are wrong. Did it ever occur to your mind that there could be a third explanation? I have been on the subject for over 25 years and I have my own explanation, which is also a subject for scruteny. Neither the Bible, nor the atheist's or naturalists' explanation is convincing. Both are flawed. Discussion thereof is lengthy and irrelevant.

We are all angry and embittered here for one reason or another. This form seems to bring out the worse in us all. I am angry/embittered when I remember all of the Fundamentalists that tormented me when I was an Atheist. I can forgive them for their ignorance, but I have not forgotten. I am NOT a Fundamentalist. I know that God love them too. It is frustrating to read what they say here and see how they think. I want to say "evolve damn it". "Move on to the next level of Christian evolution."
Others here are angry/embittered Atheist or Muslims. It seems that we are all ticked off at one another for one reason or another. I suggest that we all try to find a way to be together here in peace. Myself included. I have to learn to bite my tongue and remember that God loves everyone here. And to say that one group of Christians are not "Christian" as some do here, is a sin against the Holy Spirit. Are you listening people?

Angry and embittered? Who have you been talking to? Actually, it is quite easy to reveal the folly of naturalistic explanations for origins when we actually look at the evidence without prejudice. That is why evolutionary thinking is falling by the wayside. It also quite easy to reveal the true, sovereign God of the universe who controls all things and through His love and grace, chose out some for eternity with Him. Apparently, you are not well versed in the Scriptures since you present an image of God that is contrary to Scripture. I can understand this though, since you are at this point, spiritually blind and dead in trespasses and sins. Angry and embittered? Oh heavens no. We are joy filled, happy, faithful and hopeful. Looking forward to the blessed hope of His coming. I wouldn't trade my life in Christ for all the riches this world offers.

Funny how all those "educated" people who know that the auto is killing the environment still get into their cars and kill the world.
I guess people aren't as smart as they think!
And when half or more of us live in a hell created by pollution where you can't eat the meat, fish in the sea, breathe the area in some countries, drink the water because it's laced with PCBs, we can thank all the "eduacated" people for this.

Yep, you are right we Christians that answered you sound like killers to me... We should be dragged out and shoot for the hatred we have thrust on you.. What I see is someone that hates God and hates His children. After everything God did for you to bring you to Himself, it's a shame you can't see the Love he has announced to you in His word.... I hope you can hear the sadness that is really in these words because that isn't part of the sarcasm I started this response with..... Jim

I will pray that you find hope and love in this created world.
I will also pray that you find faith in what the Bible teaches so that your scientific wisdom doesn't restrain your thinking.
God Bless
