regulate the breathing through concentration, visualizing the om,concentrate on the om till the mind becomes focused and the thought become less then concentration become meditation this could take you months or even years depending on the purity of the individual but well worth the effort everyone will make this journey eventually its as major part of existential experience as birth or death.you don't see God rather you see God in all things this is called self realization ,the realization that existence is one,one self (soul) with the whole universe with its many density's projected upon it then reflected in the individual mind, this realization or knowledge comes only through intuitive knowing and can not be experienced through the body or mind its a transcendent experience

Meditation is rarely ever accompanied by the vision of a god or other entity. Instead, it's the calming of yourself and to lose full consciousness, but rather the Alpha stage of sleep, where you can literally relax and nothing bothers you and you may see some things.
When you start, lay down on the ground or a mat and stretch your arms above your head andarch your back a little bit. A couple of seconds later, sit back up. Close your eyes and listen to the soothing sounds of the forest, or another CD of naturistic sounds, like the ocean, or rain, or evenvery soft music.
The first thing you should experience is the reverse of a hot flash: instead of heat, it'll feel more like a glow of calming, represhing energy from within yourself. between 15 minutes and 1/2 hour, you may see a dream come together, or a vision of what you want to happen in the future, or an image of an angel... anything.

It seems it is a good sign that you are experiencing "something" in your meditation. But you did not mention where you learned your type of meditation or if you learned it from a qualified teacher.
I agree with esipro that Meditation is a delicate process and if not practiced in the right way with the quidance of a qualified teacher, it may do harm to yourself.
In my experience and training, the best method of Meditation should involve the use of a siddha mantra that embodies the shakti of the Sadguru. The most important thing is to find a Saduru through his representatives. It should involve pranidhana, madhuvidya, dharana, pranayama, cakra sodhana and Guru dhyana.
For a composite technique of Meditation and the accompanying yoga asanas, contact your nearest Ananda Marga jagrti/ashram.

What is your religion and what form of meditation are you doing? I need to know that before I can give an intelligent answer. I practice centering prayer which is a form of deep meditation and contemplation. I can also do a milder form of mind-body meditation for healing. You can write me off list if you want.
Or you can go to this website for more information:

As to a mystical experience of the presence of God. This can happen and does sometimes in the beginning of the Spiritual life. You would do well to seek a Spiritual Adviser of your particular faith. I am Christian and my Adviser is a priest and monastic.

There is a meditation which promises everything - enlightenment, samadhi, spiritualism etc. And it is also the simplest. AnaPana(breath) : Sit down in any erect posture & simply watch your natural breathing. Incoming , outgoing , in between . Do not try to modify the pace , just watch the natural rhythm. In the mean time try to see that no thought crosses your mind even if any thought arises stop it & again bring your attention to the breathing. Keep doing. Initially you will think that - What am I doing ? But slowly you will know the results. Remember , dont add any mantra etc. This is the meditation with which Buddha achieved enlightenment under bodhi tree in Gaya.

You are meditating with an already set goal of meeting god. Try with nothing on your mind and tell me what you find. You may find something new that nobody thought existed. And meditate or whatever using your own new method. Why follow something someone else invented? Because by doing that you may end up with the same results as that person.
right?

It would be helpful to know what spiritual tradition you belong to and reading you've done on meditation. Meditation that I do has nothing to do with any deity.
The way mindful meditation works is simply to focus on the breath, to acknowledge when extraneous thoughts pass into our brain and gently release them, and to let the mind go blank. Concentration is not on anything in particular, but instead on just allowing the process of breath to center ourselves in our present existence.
Again, this may be a bit different from your own instruction, so if you like post a bit more details about what you're trying to do.

Scientifically: Meditation is a state not unlike REM (Rapid Eye Movement) phase of sleep. Brainwave are nearly identical to being awake and cognicent however the body is nearly comatose. This is the phase fo sleep wear all rest occurs. The Messiener Field (usually refered to as an Aura, we have camera's in the USA that can take photos of it) is the bodies natural electrical field and strengthens in intensity.
Of course as the electrical system of the body (nerves, neurons et al) is strengthened this will cause a humming vibration to be felt.
Proven benefits of meditation include lower blood pressure, more effecient body function, greater restfullness of sleep and improved immune system function.
Yoga and meditation are greatly recomended by most Doctors around the globe as the means to better health, wellness and mental clarity.
Spiritually: Yoga and mediation have their roots in spiritual faiths as old as civilization itself and it has the backing of the global medical community as a means to greater mental and physical health. Does this not prove the light and wisdom of the divine behind its doctrine of wisdom and peace?

I have the exact same thing. It's a feeling of growing energy and current flow. Sometimes I can see it, just a bit, and it's a bit gossamer in nature. Usually it's accompanied by a feeling of extreme calmness or extreme happiness.
You're probably on the right track, keep at it!
