There is some controvery as to the word origin here. Some say the car "deusenberg" has some rlevance, others say it's a variant of "daisy".
Doozy or Doozie is given to mean something unusual or exceptional. He'res a little more on that:

I imagine it refers to the dizzy feeling one gets when one lose their balance after tripping.

I really think it originated.... a while ago... Kind of like saying "Whoa! Watch your step, it's really slippery!" or " Dangerous"
