Isn't Christianity based on the death and resurrection of Jesus? This is what the cross stands for, so how can Mormons be Christians if they do not use and appreciate the cross? Do they use some other symbol? Christians also believe God to be the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit in one, do Mormons believe this?

Speaking as an ex mormon, they don't use the cross as they believe that it reminds Christ of His suffering.

Hope this helps. God bless.

Actually Catholic and Mormons are much a like. They have the book of mormon written by a man and Catholics have the book of criticism written by a man.The sign of the cross is no place in the Bible. Why is it that you can give the sign of the cross and then go out a live like devils.I haven't always been a Christian and in my wild days most of the people I partied with were Catholic so I know how things work.I also notice how so many of you wear crosses with Jesus still on the cross. My Jesus is no longer on the cross because He live I live. I fill so sorry for the both of you , but this seems to be the pot calling the kettle black.

The cross to Mormons is a symbol of a dead Christ. They associate it with e Catholic church which they have been told in the past in the Great and Abominable Church of the Devil. The don't except the trinity saying that God is a exalted and glorified man. Jim

This is what the prophet and president of our church President Gordon B. Hinckley said concerning why Mormon's don't wear crosses or have them hanging up in our homes. " “On Calvary he was the dying Jesus. From the tomb he emerged the living Christ. … Because our Savior lives, we do not use the symbol of his death as the symbol of our faith. But what shall we use? No sign, no work of art, no representation of form is adequate to express the glory and the wonder of the Living Christ. He told us what that symbol should be when he said, ‘If ye love me, keep my commandments’ (John 14:15)”

Even though we do not believe in using the cross as a symbol in our Church, we do not criticize others for wearing or using the cross in their religions. We should understand that the cross is significant and sacred to them. In fact, the 11th article of faith says, “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.” [A of F 11]

We focus on the great atonement of our Savior, his sacrifice for us that makes eternal life possible. We think of his life and sacrifice every Sunday during the sacrament. Our testimonies become the precious things that we bear, along with our obedience, to show we are true followers of Christ."

As far as what Mormon's believe about the nature of God, we do believe that God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are 3 seperate beings. In the bible, it says that Peter and Stephen talk about seeing the Son of Man on the right hand of God, so that tells us that they are separate beings but with the same purpose.

latterdaylady hit the nail on the head. the cross is not used because we celebrate his life on earth, not his death. no, Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are three different beings that make up the Godhead.

Death on cross was sign of curse. So God saved Jesus from dying a death of curse. He was taken to heaven before cruci-fiction. There is nothing called orginal sin, this concept is taken from paganism. No son shall die for the sin of father.

Mormons are a cult and use christianity as a front to entice members to join. The cross is a major symbol in Christianity and the fact that a supposed christian religion ignores it certianly would disturb me.
