Strange how the human basically turns from a baby, to an adult, back to a baby (elder) again.

Then look at our world and its trends and such. We're starting to reverse in clothing trends, traditions, etc.

Is there anything else?

I frequently come across posts where people try to clarify that they are not religious, rather they are "saved" or "born again". Why do they say this? Is this a popular idea being taught in a few churches right now? If you say "I'm not religious" and then say you're Christian, what's the deal?

Webster definition of religious:
1 : relating to or manifesting faithful devotion to an acknowledged ultimate reality or deity

Religions cause human beings to sacrifice their time, their money, their well-being, even their lives, for the benefit of the religion, its theology, and its culture.

Does religion exercise a kind of "Darwinian hold" over humans?
Does religion cause Believers to strive on behalf of their religion, to make it the most fit?
To allow it to adapt and survive in a changing and competitive environment?

Iraq's population is approximately 24 million. Of these, about 600,000 to 700,000 are Christian.

In the sectarian violence, in which Sunnis and Shiites have taken up arms against one another, what should the Christians do?
Which group will protect them?
If they should be peacemakers, how?

I am Catholic convert with great zeal and love for my church. I would say that upon conversion I became a conservative Catholic. Recently though, I've started to appreciate the beauty and tradition of my previous church the Greek Orthodox. Now instead of comparing the faiths and trying to get non-Catholics to convert, I feel that what I, and all of us should be truly doing is seeking unity. My question is with Ecumenism seeming so slightly closer, after the recent efforts of the Holy Father, how can the reuniting of the two sister churches, be done?

How will we agree on issues like the Immaculate Conception, priest celibacy, the 'Filioque'? My fear is that in any case one of the two churches will have to admit inaccuracy of its teachings! In addition, what would the basis for the election of a pope be? Would there have to be almost equal numbers of candidates from eats and west? After all the papacy is one thing that the Orthodox Church will have to admit to if we seek joining, am I right?

Very specifically please.

And also in that same verse what does it mean that except for those who have been cheated on, if they divorce their wife, they cause her to become an adulteress?
Is this not clearly condoning divorced women to fool around but prohibits them from getting married? ......Matthew really knows what he's talking about me thinks!

(please only answer if you have any reading comprehension skill at all).

Carnivorous animals kill other animals to feed themselves. A life is lost. A creation of God is destroyed. Still its not a sin. Man kills another being, it's termed as sin. So???? Society or God, who decides this?

Yahoo is featuring an article today that states it is a crime to cheat on your spouse in Michigan. Michigan residents could face up to life in prison for extra-marital affairs. I know that throughout history "cheaters" have faced some pretty severe consequences, including death (John 8:3-5), but what are your thoughts regarding government overseeing and enforcing marital vows?

This is a serious question, i imagine it must be so frustrating to hear your religion ridiculed on these boards by people who don't really look closely at the religion but simple follow western propaganda. I am a christian of sorts but I have read the qurran and a lot of it runs parallel to both christianity and Judaism

I know this sounds like one of those questions people ask just to make a point, but I really don't know the answer. I don't know how a person HAPPILY believes in Fundamentalist Heaven and Hell.

If a person believes in a merciful God, one who gives of himself to get forgiveness for others, then how does that person happily announce that non-believers will suffer eternally?

Remember, non-believers include friends, family and co-workers.

Non-believers include people who never heard the Gospel, people who once believed but couldn't keep their faith, and people who would have believed if given enough time (people like the believers themselves were maybe a year ago).

And remember the nature of Eternity. The person believes that they will be in Heaven one trillion years from now, happy as a clam, while the Hindu doctor who delivered their grandson, and kept their daughter alive has been suffering agonies that can only be imagined for the same one trillion years.

So, how do they do it?

There wouldn't really be a problem would there? People would have to be nice to eachother. It's the rule breakers who spoil religion for everyone else isn't it?
