I ask this because religious sects within Christianity seldom agree. Sometimes there's disagreement within the sects. Historically, much of the interpretations have been wrong - the argument for slavery, as an example - so how can anyone be sure their interpretations today are correct? What do you believe people living a hundred years from now will think about your interpretation?

churches fill up every sunday in america but the country does not reflect what the bible says of god fearing god loving people. The country is total contradiction of what god would consider a righteous society.

know more about different religions than the religious? Please don't insult me for being a believer, if you look at my Q&A's I would never insult you but my uncles an atheist & he seems to know more about Christianity (me), Muslims, Buddhists & the Jewish faith than I & alot of religious people know & I was just curious as to why?

I mean have you even read your Holy Book? Well just incase you haven't I shall leave the following for your attention. But I urge you not to take my word for it but to check it out yourself. Go on do it now, otherwise you'll think I'm making this **** up. Oh and I haven't even got onto the Qur'an yet.

12:13-19 Abraham prostitutes wife.
19:1-8 Rape virgin daughters instead of male angels.
19:26 Lot's wife turned into pillar of salt for disobeying god.
19:30-38 Lot impregnates his two daughters while drunk. (So much for "family values"!)
20:2-12 Abraham prostitutes wife - again.
25:1-6 Keeping many concubines is OK.

21:7-11 OK to sell daughters. Female slaves can be used for sex.

Example one: Hitler was an atheist, and Jeff Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Charles manson, Vlad the impaler etc. were apparently not true christians.....
example two: telling people that GREAT MINDS like Galeleo, Shakespeare, Abe Lincoln, Einstien, and Davinchi are Christian
Example three: denying that the Holocaust, War in Iraq, Witchtrials, Crusades etc, were not done by christians, ive even heard some say atheists and Pagans did these things
Are they trying to rewrite history so that their religion would look better than it does right now?

Wouldn't life be similar to life in the middle east? While the bible does promote love and peace, it also says that women should be subserviant and modest, that we should devote our lives to God, that followers of other religions should be destroyed, etc.

why do people have such strong dislike towards gay sometimes from a religious stand point? I know god has said homosexuality is a sin but still there are many other sins that people sin. Why is sloth and being lazy (which is about 99 percent of us) driving a car instead of running, searchin for info online instead of going to out. What about over eating is that not a sin too? Most americans are overweight as we indulge ourselfs with food. Why do most seem to not care about these sins? And yet focus on homosexuality? is it any worst? what about a man that looks upon a woman with lust and gives into his instincts of sex without love is that any worst than homosexuality? Society seems to care a lot more about homosexuality than a lot of other sins. I never heard of a pedofile bashing but i've heard of gay bashing. I never heard of a rapist bashing but i've heard of gay bashing.

i don't believe in praying to saints or Mary - at all, it's something i stand strongly against. And I don't believe in Purgatory. Would I be a "bad Catholic" for this? I'm only considering converting for fiancee, would it better to be a good Protestant than an okay Catholic?

instead of constantly thinking of living life in heaven after death???? since there is nothing after death id advise you to live life out more then to worship someone 24/7 and think that hes watching you because thats just a waste of life
