I know the 9/11 is a terrible story to remember. How we lost some 3,000 souls to the barbaric fundamentalists of islam.

But, before the 9/11 many people used to wonder why the jews 'created' so much problems in the middle east. Why are they so 'arrogant' etc.

Thanks to the 9/11, the world now sees it differently. The jews are now viewed as victims of islamists who have been creating non-stop problems. Now, its not just the jews having problem with muslims. The whole world has problems with the muslims.

If not for the 9/11, islam would have continued to expland un-abated while atheists and ignorant practitioners of other faiths remain in the blur and fooled with the lies of islam.

I don't wish to sound political correct for the sake of being so, but it is extremely apparent now that islam is not peaceful but terror and absurdity. One wonders how are we to rid ourselves of this evil religion without causing too much problems.

I see in the churches today many of the selfrighteous zealots casting their eyes down at young woman who have ilegitamate children, yet they talk against abortion. This has to stop ! Let me make myself clear,In no way do I support abortion. But in no way do I support these selfrighteous zealots. They are one of the root cause's of many young unmarried woman getting abortions today. The church needs to start openning it's doors to sinners.SO THEY CAN BE HEALED!!I am not suggesting that it support sinners but that they start loving sinners. The worst kind of sin is selfrighteous sin.Now my question: What can be done to stop this spirit of selfrighteousness ?

I notice that there are many posters here who state that they are atheists. Some of them act like true atheists and simply state that they dont believe in a Judeo-Christian God, Allah, or any other gods so they have no use for religion. That's fine. Others go one step further and post comments that Christians are "backwards" or "anti-scientific," against, "progress," or similar. I think there is some confusion here.

To start with, the largest single body of Christians in the world is the Catholic Church. However, in the US, various forms of Protestantism outnumber Catholicisms making Catholics a Christian minority in the US.

The Catholic Church accepts evolution. It accepts the Big Bang Theory as God's work. It isnt wholly against things like stem-cell research (It is against just creating embryos to harvest stem-cells.) The people who run places like Georgetown U. are NOT telling their students the world was created in 7 days! (more...)

This means respondants are merely sharing their opinions. Opinions require judgment so when God asks you not to judge, is he asking you not to form and share opinions?

In the Christian Bible and in many other places, I have heard that the word "woman" came because God created woman (Eve) from the "womb" of man. (Adam). wo (from "womb") + man (Adam) = wo-man. Is this true?

What if you were in an accident and were buried alive under concrete and rubble, your legs a smashed, and soon a fire starts and you catch fire, and you have a gun with a few shots left. I know that it is a sin to commit suicide but what if you are going to die anyway by burning alive and then decide to shoot yourself in the head to ease the suffering. Is this still a sin? Will you still go to hell?

Or could our inborn knowledge of the sanctity of life be a part of our evolution?

I ask, because a response to one of my earlier questions stated that there has to be something greater to establish order and direction in life, and that particular something is God and his Word.

I can't follow that line of thinking, it makes no sense to me.

If that was true, then how did empires such as the Aztecs and Incas ever get started? How could the native Americans form orderly societies? Yes, they had gods that they believed in, but they didn't have the Christian God.

So, without the Christian God, how does one form morals, how does one determine right from wrong?

I have tried to go to many differant churches but I do a lot of my own bible study.

Well do most of my own bible study but go to church, and I don't agree with any church 100 percent.

Is this normal to get your own understanding out of the bible?

Politicians (left and right) and religious persons (I say zealots because many forgo reason and creativity for blind pendantry)will often, with furious pasion and anger, pound their respective pulpits with condemnations and evokations of power discounting their oposers with the very same tactics they defame their oposers for using...how is it that either they...those in power, or we (those, in essence giviing them power) have become so stupid as to not become enraged at this fight for power for power's sake...and not for the fight of what is Right to the comunity of man?

No!

I think that there is a God. I cannot prove it. I think that any religion that claims to be the only way to God is a lie. Can I prove that? No. Can you prove otherwise? No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bible is proof that Paul was a greedy homophobe, nothing more.
