Example one: Hitler was an atheist, and Jeff Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Charles manson, Vlad the impaler etc. were apparently not true christians.....
example two: telling people that GREAT MINDS like Galeleo, Shakespeare, Abe Lincoln, Einstien, and Davinchi are Christian
Example three: denying that the Holocaust, War in Iraq, Witchtrials, Crusades etc, were not done by christians, ive even heard some say atheists and Pagans did these things
Are they trying to rewrite history so that their religion would look better than it does right now?

these are but a few examples.

Are you saying Hitler, Jeff Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and Charles manson were Christians?
Seriously anyone to believe that appartlently knows nothing about the teachings of the bible.

They may call themsevles christians but those that don't follow the teachings of Christ are liars. Not everyone that claims to be a christian is one. I can claim to be an Pro Athlete, but it means nothing unless I actually am one. We do not deny any of these wars. Again the crusades happened by Catholism, and that isn't Christianity either. Because Jesus said in his word, not to kill.

Shakespeare was a christian by the way

It's true that writers, and "historians" who say they are Christians
are distorting the record of the past. But in order to be accurate,
it has to be said that there are Christians who aren't doing this.

As far as the witchtrials, people who are Christian don't murder
people for believing the opposite of them.
Whoever told you that Christians do this kind of thing needs to
define what a Christian is.
We need a separation between religion and crime.
You are right about Lincoln, Einstein, and Davinci. Lincoln was
an atheist, Einstein at the minimum was agnostic, and nobody
knows on Davinci. Paper doesn't last hundreds of years.

As far as outright holocaust denial, only a lunatic fringe does
that. There are writers who do question the accuracy of
the statistics. Lying about numbers won't prevent another
holocaust. Calling it mass murder, rape, and torture would actually cause the right amount of revulsion in people's hearts and minds.WORDS HAVE MEANING OR THEY DON'T.

There are no primary documents for the crusades. Paper doesn't last a thousand years. The first books written on
the subject were written around the 1850s.

History is a lot of fable any way. The ruling powers of every and
any nation rewrite the past all the time to gain and maintain their
power over the lives of other people.

Christians are commanded by the new testament to study.
To study, one must think, and not be gullible.
Most history writers, regardless of stated religious beliefs, write
books to make money, not to tell any one what actually happened.
You are an individual, allowed to own yourself, and your beliefs.
I hope you define what a Christian is by how Jesus lived.
A lot of Christians don't think I'm a Christian, and I often don't
know for sure, either.

As to history itself, living in the past doesn't prevent mistakes.
The way history is taught, written, and repeated is actually
reinforcing oppression and murder as legitimate.

I don't know what your sources are for this, but obviously you're not dealing with mainstream Christians.

That said, I would take issue with your idea of the War in Iraq not being done by Christians. That is a very misleading suggestion. Why? Because while it is a religous war on the part of the Islamic Fascists, it is not so on the part of the US, UK, etc. It is no secret that the vast population of the US is comprised of individuals claiming to be Christians, that does not make it a religious war. Certainly, our military is not 100% Christian. There have even been Muslims in our military over in Iraq. Certainly, the Iraqi's themselves are predominantly Muslim in their military.

I've never heard of Christians denying the holocost except for Mel Gibson's father. Certainly David Duke of the KKK, and Muslims such as the crazy guy over in Iran loudly profess this. Heck, there was a woman professing to be a Jew on this forum a couple of weeks ago who said she didn't believe in the Holocaust.

If Hitler was a Christian he was a hypocrite to an amazing extent.

I do not deny the holocaust, or the war in iraq, or the witch trials, or crusades.

IF the people behind them called themselves Christian, they were CERTAINLY not REAL ones. That, my friend, is common sense.

Jesus didn't call the crusades, the Pope did.

Do you honestly think Hitler was a Christian?

History has labeled many historic figures as part of a certain religion as a matter of statistic.

We are not statistics.

Christians are not trying to rewrite history. Some of the "facts" that you stated are wrong. Hitler wasn't an atheist, he was an occultist. Some of the greatest minds in history have been Christian, for example Sir Isaac Newton. Almost two thirds of the papers he researched and wrote were devoted to the Bible. Christians do not claim the Holocaust never happened. The only people who say that are Muslim extremists and those neonazi people. Get your facts straight.

yes, but please be aware that not all Christians act his way or believe these things. You're talking about a small, fundementalist minority who cannot bear the thought that a group they are associated with could at some point in time be hypocritical. I have seen people from other social groupings do the same thing: atheists, liberals, conservatives, Bahaii even. It's part of the culture. For many Christians, unveiling the past and trying not to look at things ethnocentrically is very important, as it is for most people who prefer not to live in ignorance.

I"am german and for example Hitler did call himself a christian. I do not know anything about the rewriting thing, however remember Christians are just people and not everybody who calls themself a christian is in fact a christian. The devil is out there to blind people as well don't forget about that ! there are some good christian people who have done horrible things how do you explain that ? Well they are still people and open to sin at all times due to our Olson Nature. For example Hitler called himself a christian but do you think he really was a christian ? Probably not ! Christian will mess up and sin ! Satan is ther to help ! God bless , Nicole

Never heard that Christians are the one rewriting history. It is not the Christian saying the Holocust never happened. I think you are twisting what the Islamic nation of Iran is trying to rewrite.

It was written that in the end times, Christian will be hated. More and more these days its coming to the front stage. Are you one that is assisting the hatred towards the Christians, as the Bible says?

Your definition of Christian may not be the perfect definition.Your history book also might need some work. A Christian by definition of scripture is one who is born again and can not be a murderer. therefore it is not rewriting history to note the obvious.
