Some of you say, "no they wouldn't". Ok, well the idiots wouldn't

The rest of you that don't agree with me say that he gives us a choice to have faith or not. Ok, I have faith. But how the hell am I supposed to know WHAT to have faith in? What religion? What belief at all? How am I supposed to know that I should have faith in the bible, instead of having faith that the bible is a bunch of lies?

And for those of you who don't think I know what the bible says, my father was a pastor and I grew up in the church. Do you think our family didn't read a lot of the bible?

Sunpekes you are the one that needs bible study. II Peter 3:9 says "the Lord doesn't wish that any should perish, but come to full repentance. "

Many of you are saying that we should see God in the people and things around us. What I see around me is a bunch of people killing and being cruel to each other. Animals are the same, they just don't have the free time to go to great lengths to hurt each other. Even plants kill each other (weeds.) This earth doesn't exactly install in me the image of a majestic God.

Ok, to those of you saying that people still wouldn't believe... are you saying this is the best God can do? God is infinitely powerful, yet I have never seen anything that looks like a miracle. In revelation it says that when Jesus comes back EVERYONE will know and believe. So people can believe if God will really show himself.

so basically... you believe what the bible says because the bible tells you that you should believe? Nice...

kait, I'm not going to restate everything I said above. I already responded to everything you said in above responses.

Good question. Christians will claim that it will somehow take away your free will if he proves he exists, but this is a bad argument. They say your choice to follow God would be compromised if God just made you believe he exists.

The argument really mashes together two beliefs:
1) Belief that God exists
2) Belief that God is worth following

If God doesn't show himself, that actually reduces my options to follow him. I can't decide if God is worth following or not if I don't believe he exists.

I also can't just decide to believe God exists. They treat belief as if it is a decision, when it's not. Either I'm convinced or I'm not convinced. It is up to God to do the convincing. So far, if he exists, he has been very unconvincing. Until he finally convinces me that he exists, I have no choice about following him or not.

Note that even though they use this argument, they fully admit that God has proved his existence to Satan, but Satan still had free will (which he supposedly used to oppose God). So, even within their own belief, the argument is a bad one.

And don't spew the crap about nothing being able to convince me. Obviously, if God is that intelligent, he would know what would convince me and what wouldn't. Mere morals on Earth have convinced me that they exist. God shouldn't have that hard a time at it.

Understand your frustration. You've been taught one concept of God, handed down since birth through your parents. The Garden of Eden ("Majestic concept")and all the rest the Bible tells. Your parents taught you their belief - now you have to find your own. Can't be solved in one question, no matter how many comments you add to it. Takes time and persistent exploration into all that has been made available. The best scientific approach I have found, after many years of research, is Wayne Dyers 'Power of Intention' . Won't answer your question either. Gave many a perspective. You have to take your time, ease up on yourself & others. Simplify - start with what you have and then keep an open mind while maintaining some 'filters'. Research, study up. All a matter of self introspection & reflection. Faith comes from within.

Jesus told us that if we believed as little children believe we can see God everywhere and in everything. All u have to do is open ur eyes and believe. Can't u SEE the wonder of God's existence everyday u wake up in just opening ur eyes to a brand new day? Can't u see God in everyone u look at? Can't u see God in all His creations including urself? Can't u see God and how beautiful He is in the majesties of mountains and the Earth and the stars and the great Universe u belong to? If not then u r truly blind and will never recognize God even if He appeared right in front of u in all His complete Glory.

When god created man he gave him free will, a brain to think with, and a choice to believe or not...When you don't have physical evidence, ( such as God showing himself physically)then you have faith...Why is it so hard to have faith in God, but easy to have faith in something we want in our future? Actually, there is a lot of evidence all around us...Look at nature, animals, biology, human A&P, look at the universe...all of this just did not happen to come into existence...it was made by an enitity that is not of this world....He wants us to believe thru faith that he exists, and loves us...we are after all, his children...Since he is God, and not a human, he is supreme, all knowing, and also impossible to understand throughly, that is why we don't have all the answers, and never will, till we stand before him...In the meantime, we have faith in a loving, ever present God who touches our lives everyday.

As a pastor's son, you would know the story of Noah very well. If you can answer THIS question, that will answer your question:

After Noah had preached for 120 years, and the ark was finished, the clean animals came in by sevens while the unclean came in by twos. Everyone saw THAT. Why didn't the people believe that the flood, as predicted by Noah, was imminent? What OTHER evidence did they need?

All people are accountable to God whether they have “heard about Him” or not. The Bible tells us that God has clearly revealed Himself in nature (Romans 1:20) and in the hearts of people (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The problem is that the human race is sinful; we all reject this knowledge of God and rebel against Him (Romans 1:21-23). Apart from God's grace, God would give us over to the sinful desires of our hearts, allowing us to discover how useless and miserable life is apart from Him. This He does for those who reject Him (Romans 1:24-32).
In reality, it is not that some people have not heard about God. Rather, the problem is that they have rejected what they have heard and what is readily seen in nature. Deuteronomy 4:29 proclaims, “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” This verse teaches an important principle: everyone who truly seeks after God will find Him. If a person truly desires to know God, God will make Himself known.
The problem is, “there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God” (Romans 3:11). People reject the knowledge of God that is present in nature and in their own heart, and instead decide to worship a “god” of their own creation.

First of all, if God "showed" His person, we are so sinful that it would kill us. But, God did send His Son to earth....people saw Him and watched His miracles and then killed Him. We are no different. If you saw a miracle....what would you do different in your life? God does do miracles all the time....people are just not looking. He does them for His glory...not for ours. Read His Word and ask Him to show you how to do His will.....He will show you. Live up to all the light you know...and He will show you new things. He promises you that. He says that He will instruct us. Psalm 32:8. He promises to help the righteous with all their troubles. Psalm 34:15,17 Here is a another great promise. Jer. 33:2,3 Hang in there....Jesus IS coming soon!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Trusting God means obeying his commands even when we don't fully understand We can trust God enough to obey because his Word is true and will bring happiness and all who believe in God's Son have eternal life...Love in Christ....Josie

God really treats us as adults and dignified.
He has given us the freedom even to deny Him.
You can see God if you want to- just open your eyes with a positive mind, you will see the beauty of God all around.
Did you see that bird this morning calling you.
Did you see that flower smiling at you.
Did you see that little boy enjoying his bicycle.
Did you see that old man seeking your help

I see G-d in a newborn baby; in a sunny day; in the beauty of a flower; in watching the sunrise; in friends voluntarily paying a bill I am unable to pay...
I cannot look around me without acknowledging G-d's beauty & handiwork. He is the best artist I've ever had the chance to critique.
