Why don't we see the religious right trying to amend the Constitution to prohibit Atheists from getting married?

Is it really about the word of God, or is it about their homophobia that they want to prohibit Gay Marriage?

Gays are getting married in Vermont and California and has the sky falled there?

It seems that after all of this time has gone by, humans would see some scientific proof of an afterlife.

Do you think the church feels it necessary to convert people from early childhood because they are not able to offer solid proof of an afterlife, or is the church's motivation based in a legacy of belief that was passed down to them, and they don't question it ?

I admit that was a tricky question. Most people would answer: "light" (not the sun, mind you, the sun was created later), but before there was light, what was there? Water? God's spirit? Darkness? Earth? If planet Earth, in what form was it? Did it have earth (i.e. dirt) and water?
Was planet earth the only celestial object? What would Newtonian laws say about earth being the only single object in space?
It was said: God's spirit hovered the waters ... so water was there .... and darkness was over the deep. What exactly was "deep"? Was darkness created, then? Isn't darkness merely the absence of light? Sure, then light was created, but it seems to me that wasn't the first thing God created according to the book of Genesis. Thoughts???

I think that the Soul and Spirit are two different things.

What do you think?

If you oppose gay marriage,

would you oppose a gay man giving you CPR?

or performing life saving surgery on you in the operating room of an ER?

or bringing you food at a restaurant?

or picking your answer best answer on Yahoo Answers?

Or teaching your child in school?

Or being your boss? or your subordinate?

What if a gay man made your car?

What if the quarterback of your favorite NFL team is gay?

I'm a heterosexual agnostic/atheist, so hopefully the answers to these questions won't be people saying that I'm trying to make this about me or anything.

Just asking what I think is a good group of questions.

Everything we need is in the Bible. Why can't you believe in Chrisitianity? You've closed you're mind off to there being a God.

If you don't correct yourself, you might end up in hell forever.

I am a Christian but not a good one in the eyes of the holy rollers. Anyway my daughter has a very good friend, they're 14, she's a real sweet girl & someone who I want my daughter hanging around with except for the fact that her mother insists on over with her. Her mother is nice BUT every other word is Lord this & Jesus that. Now I too am a Christian but I don't think that it's a topic to discuss 24/7. Has anyone got a good idea of how I can nicely tell the mother that I don't like her preaching without insulting her? If I tell her rudely my daughter will surely loose a friend. I have avoided having her over but my daughters friend thinks that she's done something wrong & I don't want to hurt the girls feelings for what her mother does. Does anyone please have any ideas how to handle this in a classy way, I'm sure you've been through this at least once, what did you do?

I'm only interested in Christian anwers, thanks.

Sme points to consider in your answer:

- do you recieve a prayer chain email?
- do you pray for requests given at church?
- do you sometimes continue praying for many months after the request was made?
- do you tell the people you're praying for them?
- do you mostly pray for believers or non-believers?
- do you mostly pray for your family and friends, or for strangers?

There is a part in the Bible where the Disciples decide to go fishing again, like they did before they met Jesus. Was this backsliding?

there is proof over thousands of years that God exists, papers written back to when it all happened, the great flood (water smashed pressure out of rocks and bones, and noahs ark can still be seen in the mountains of Turkey), the tower of babel (that's why we have over 6000 languages now), and that people who believed in God were succesful. why do people still doubt He is here?

I am curious to find out as grammatically the meanings of sentences can change by punctuation. When the Bible was translated into English, punctuation did not exist. For that matter, it did not exist in the original either.

I really have no problems with anyones faith or religion, but have found it impossible to even ask a single question about Islam on here, no matter how carefully I choose my words, without someone taking offence.
I even accept that someone, somehow is even going to be offended by my asking this question (please see below, no doubt). But why is that?
Knowledge is the road away from fear - I think, anyway.
