This is a case where English in the time of the King James translation has changed. In 1611, the word "mansion" meant a place to sleep for the night--a stopping place or resting place. Now the word has come to mean a large palatial home! The word for house in "my father's house" is oikia, which can mean house, dwelling, household. So we might translate, "In my father's household, there are many places to rest."

This is no mysterie. Remember that Jesus used to be a carpenter. He was referring to the places(homes, mansions) that will be prepared for the saints(Christians) when they go to heaven.

It actually means "Many abiding places".All who go to heaven need a place to stay ,right?Heaven is a real place not a bunch of cartoon clouds,we are going to walk streets, and eat the marriage supper, and probably more than that. There are chairs spoken of and music and singing. We are to reign and rule with Him.So we are going to have many things throughout the universe to do.When the" New Jerusalem" desends to earth,it's going to orbit like the moon and we will be able to go from there to here. It's going to be cool!

I believe it was repeating another one from the bible where G-d says, I will not choose among my children. There are many paths to G-d and there can not be a right and wrong religion as we all do G-d's works and believe in him, it is just a difference in the way we pray and the ceremonies we practice, but in general, I believe most human beings practice a faith in G-d and have it in there heart to try to do good.

I have asked this one myself. I'm not sure exactly but I believe that He is preparing a place for me. Whether that is purely symbolic or is an actual place I do not know.

He meant that God is not narrow minded, but (unlike humans) accepts all kinds of people, without bias.
BTW God's name is not "God." God is a designation NOT name. Go read the whole Bible to find out what it REALLY is.
