We’re like a pre-adolescent child who has not been told outright that Santa Claus is not real, but is beginning to have some doubts of their own about the existence of all mythical entities, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy included. This child stands on the unseen line that separates sinless juvenile simplicity and accountability for ones decisions.

The human race is beginning to realize accountability for their actions in the form of quite dramatic climate change and unprecedented culture difference based violence. Gone are the days of reckless use of seemingly limitless resources and religious harmony is today a laughable concept.

In short, our collective sentience is approaching adolescence. The existence of mythical entities is being doubted. And we are denying accountability for our actions. The planet suffers and the rate of suffering rises exponentially. A solution is there in the form of population control and everybody is aware of it but we keep denying it.

Isn't the truth clear and understandable, easy to comprehend and what not?

What truthful loving god would be so illusive and underhanded?

Descartes argued that god wouldn't intentionally try to deceive him... Was Descartes wrong?

fyi, i am jewish but i do respect very much the notion behind the hijab. lately i have been wondering if non-muslim women cover their heads. i find that i want to because it seems really meaningful and beautiful...but i wouldn;t, (please no offense!) sadly, because it would create too much confusion with my family and freinds. any opinions?

i understand that the black people that go to church are just as likely to be christains as people in other churches.
i dont understand why the leader of the services is almost certainly going to yell . i have watched a number of different services on tv that have a black congregation and each one is the same the leader yells and the people all jump around and yell out amen and wave there arms about. how did this develop.
was this something that relates back to african tribes or something . i know many pagan rituales are incorparated into modern religion modifed but there roots are pagan. so this is why i wonder is this an african thing . there is one show on tv in which this leader is very fat and he is yelling in a fast paced repeative manner that does not really allow him to even catch his breath .
this man sweats so much he really looks like he will drop dead .
what makes them behave so differently . most other churches are places of reverance and not a place to yell

I thought the Judeo Christian God was pro-life, why so much death?

I'm confused, should I be on my knees worshipping such a God?

I am an atheist, and I want to gain a better understanding of Christianity, and theistic religion in general. I thought I might start with the Bible. I have read a bit of the King James Version, but that was for literary purposes. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

I understand that people who are ignorant of Islam, history, world government, U.S. foreign policy, and people who have diseased hearts and problem minds may believe Al-Qaeda to be a world wide group of crazy, highly intelligent tech guru Muslims and the "War on Terror" a legitimate war, but why do I see Muslims falling into the herd?

Why do some Muslims not know that Al-Qaeda is the CIA?

I saw a show today called "Surgery Saved My Life" on the Discovery Channel, and a Native American family's son had to have a brain tumor removed. I can't recall which tribe they belonged to. Anyways they had requested for all removed tissue to be given back to them so they could bury it in a ritual that would complete the healing process for the son (the mother was a medicine woman). They believe that the soul still exists within the remains and should be handled as such. My question is do all Native religions believe this? Or is this common only among specific tribal cultures? Is there any more info behind this belief, because after the short explanation the mother gave, I feel there is more information behind it and she just shortened it for the t.v. Thanks!

There is a raging debate in this forum about gays. Is it a sin, or not? Is it natural, are people "born gay", is there a gene for "gayness"...should churches accept gay couples, etc, etc, etc...ad nauseaum.
What about the scientific viewpoint? How does homosexuality line up with evolution? If there is such a thing as a gene for gayness, what advantage would it have for the orgnanism's survival? I am seriously confused about this.
Yes, I am a Christian, but I have no problems with science, I like to try to keep an open mind about things. If homosexuality is a sin, as so many Christians believe, then it is one of many, and since we are all sinners, we have no right to condemn anyone else, that I also believe, with all of my heart. For once, I'd like to leave Christianity out of the homosexuality debate, and get strictly to the science of it.
Does anyone have any real answers about this??
