Isn't the truth clear and understandable, easy to comprehend and what not?

What truthful loving god would be so illusive and underhanded?

Descartes argued that god wouldn't intentionally try to deceive him... Was Descartes wrong?

I'd rather have a cat in a box that I can verify whether it's dead or not by opening a box than a God that I'll never be able to see, touch, smell, taste, feel, or hear.

GOD works in mysterious ways to those who do not understand Him. If you make it a habit to do his will the truth will always be clear and understandable. Although at times it might be hard to comprehend, but that's where faith comes in.

The part about God being elusive is only because those who think so have not sought him out.

Underhanded? Which god have you been following?

If the truth is always clear and understandable, then try explaining how light can be both a particle AND a wave at the same time, or how come Schrödinger's Cat is only dead if you look at him (until then, he is, according to quantum mechanics, 50% dead and 50% alive).

The truth is, reality is always mysterious and hard to understand.

Descartes like any theist just attributes what he wants to believe to the 'god'.

Its a good philosophy but, you know, poor chap do you really think he got on his knees and prayed?

1 Cor 2:7-8
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory

well, of course mysterious does not mean using mystery and deception when it refers to God.

It is not about deceit. It is so you could recognize it is of God and you are free to use the answer to your prayer.

If God was that forthcoming, why would we need faith?

Was it good for you? :)
