A man spoke with the LORD about heaven and hell.

The LORD said to the man, "COME, I WILL SHOW YOU HELL."

They entered a room where a group of people sat around a huge pot of stew. Everyone was famished, desperate and starving.

Each held a spoon that reached the pot, but each spoon had a handle so much longer than their own arm that it could not be used to get the stew into their own mouths. The suffering was terrible.

"COME, NOW I WILL SHOW YOU HEAVEN," the LORD said after a while.

They entered another room, identical to the first - the pot of stew, the group of people, the same long-handled spoons. But there everyone was happy and well nourished.

"I don't understand," said the man. "Why are they happy here when they were miserable in the other room and everything was the same?"

The LORD smiled, "Ah, it is simple," he said. "HERE THEY HAVE LEARNED TO FEED EACH OTHER."

Is this accurate in your understanding?

Biologist Stephen Jay Gould argued that Religion and Science occupied separate realms of study and human experience. He declared that they could co-exist because the were concerned with ""non-overlapping magisteria."

(A "magisterium" refers to the arena where a field of study has the authority to teach its findings regarding truth.)

However, since Dr. Gould's death, fundamentalist Christianity has taken on science in both the media and the classrom, declaring the findings of science open to biblical refutation.

Does this incursion into the field of science in turn justify science's critical examination of the claims of religion?

If fundamentalists had continued to focus more on the messages of Jesus instead of criticizing scientific findings, would they have been less likely to contend with books like "The God Delusion" (Richard Dawkins) and "The End of Faith" (Sam Harris)?

Lot knew the two angels in Sodom were angels somehow and Abraham knew that when the three men visited him at the oaks of Mambre that they were the LORD.

Did they look different or was it revealed from the Spirit like when Peter said Jesus was the Son of God.

Ok i dont want this to offend anyone... This whole religion thing I dont get it. I was raised in a home where it was my grandmother who took us all to church and made us wear our best of everything. I dont remember every word of the bible but i always thought god didnt care about those things why should it be that way?
Now my son is in catholic school (because of his fathers side) and I can not honestly understand anything religious when it come to relating to him in this way.
I dont understand anything of it, from going to heaven (doesnt everyone go because they are all forgiven?) to why we wear our best clothes? I really dont get it if god were real why do we have so much pain and suffering in the world?
Dont get me wrong i believe in a creator but not in this jesus person.

Can you give me some real insight?? HELP

THE HEAVEN PART:
Rev.12:3,4,6-11,12;
Michael of Jude 9; and Dan.12:1-13 end times, with holy angels has Satan and one third as unholy angels cast out of heaven.
HEAVEN IS CLEAN. Satan has a short time.
Michael is there to the last for heavenly John 6:39,40,44 [ the raised up at the last day ]; 14:3 A place is prepared with no Satan there. 1Thes.4:15-17 [ the caught up ]; at last.

Rev.20:1-6,12,13 [ The heavenly are with Jesus ]; 12,13 next these to be resurrected.
No Satan here for 1000 years.

Satan is going to be out of the heavens and the earth as Jesus and his heavenly makes new all that has been lost for heaven and angel and earth and offsprings of Adam, right?
2Pet.3:13;
Is this why it is said, we have new heavens and new earth?
Rev.21:1-5 All made new.
Does this even come close to what is to be known in this world?

Christian women, do you believe what the Bible says about men being the rightful leaders, owning their wives, and having the right to beat them? Do you believe women are the cause of original sin and need a man to lead them to God?

If so, how do you justify loving a God who thinks you so worthless? Or is it not love but the fear of hell that drives you?

If not, doesn't it make you question other parts of the Bible? You're 50% of the population - why is it you don't you stand up and change the Bible if you think it is a lie?

"Have you seen my stapler?"
"That's the last straw, I'm going to burn down the building."
"And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire."

Where does the Bible give a list of all the things that are considered sins? Like the 10 Commandments? I'm confused because I thought there were cut-and-dry rules everyone knew for what was and wasn't a sin (like the 10 Commandments), but then people are saying "look at this story in the bible; this story means X is a sin and you will go to hell for X" even if X doesn't fall under the 10 Commandments. And isn't there some other part of the bible where God tells people what's good and bad to do?

In order to avoid sinning, do I need to be an expert on the Bible and read and interpret the entire thing correctly to know what will and will not send me to Hell? Or is there a list of all the sins that I need to avoid, and as long as I follow that list, I'll be fine?

The tree of knowledge of good and evil was forbidden to Adam and Eve thereby assuring that the two would remain stupid and ignorant. As their original sin ancestors, the truly religious resist asking any questions that may cast doubt on God's motives, deeds, methods, morality and even existence. It would appear to a non-believer that the one unforgivable sin should not be badmouthing the holy spirit but asking embarrassing questions that could enlighten mankind as to the true nature of god.
