homosexuals become hate speech? I am on a discussion board about religion and I cant speak the truth that comes straight from the BIBLE without getting my question deleted? What about all the people on here that say aweful things about CHRISTIANITY and JESUS...is that not hate speech? I think people dont know the difference between right and wrong anymore. So many people have become brainwashed and its really sad. It does say in the BIBLE that in the end days people will love the bad and hate the good, and that is whats happening now!

What must I do to prove to christians that Poseidon is God of the Sea?

For now, I will pray to Poseidon to send at least 1 hurricane sometime in the next 24 months as PROOF of his awesome power.

I would like for all of you to pray to your god to stop this hurricane so that we can see who's god has power over the sea.

Would anyone like to place a wager on who's god will win?

christmas isactually derived from a pagan holliday, the tree is a pagan symbol of renewal of life. the eating of ham, the holly, the mistletoe, the giving of presents, are alll pagan traditions."
the only thing christian about christmas is that you pretend christ was born on this day, which every biblical scholar knows christ wasnt actually born on december 25th.

Yule - winter solstice celebration
Sol Invictus - celebration of 2 deities, Sol Invictus (unconquered sun) and Mithras (sun of righteousness). December 25th was considered the date of the winter solstice, the date that the sun "proved" itself to be unconquered.

It would seem that firms are being instructed NOT to put up Xmas decorations for fear of OFFENDING muslims. Can we not live and let live. This is after all - a Christian country, well I thought it was, what is wrong with WHEN IN ROME DO AS THE ROMANS DO? I have enjoyed the FESTIVAL OF LIGHT - maybe we should ALL become more flexible and accept and celebrate the differences, of culture and religeons, what do you think?

in other words ... can the God/dess you worship change, act or manifest differently than is described in your belief system? is your deity bound, confined and contained within the context of your beliefs and expectations?

'Atheism is more than just a problem for faith. It fails to qualify as science. A good science pursues naturalistic explanations of natural phenomena. The tradition of biology begun with Charles Darwin in 1859 and running down to the present time is good science. Darwinism provides the most adequate natural explanations for the evolution of one species out of a previous species. As good science, it avoids saying anything about God’s action in the world. Because science tells us how creatures act with regard to one another, we do not expect science to say anything directly about the creator. For a scientist to conclude that there is no God - which is the conclusion of the atheist - is simply unwarranted by the science. Atheism fails to be scientific, because science deals with the world of creatures, not the realm of the creator.'

Taken from St. Mike.

That sounds like a good argument, doesn't it...

this is primarily for those involved in the Jewish faith or for anyone to answer. I would like to know if Zion/ Zionism is something purely spiritual/ ritual, physical in locality or person, how it will come about, how it will affect those not of the Jewish faith etc...
My intent in asking is not anti-semitic but purely to seek to understand those of the Jewish faith and their beliefs. I will report if your answers are of an anti-semitic/hateful nature.
thank you.

This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen. It's an explanation other people will understand.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.
As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is that people do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens is that people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

If you think God exists, send this to other people---If you think God does not exist, delete it!

Except for the funny Geico commercials, I don't see many of them walking around.. So you're always saying that no missing link exists and that why don't humans have an ancestor?

I guess you don't acknowledge the Neanderthal. But then again, if you believe in Creationism, there are many things that exist that you don't acknowledge....like facts.

Hi.

I'm a witch in training, one could say, but lately, I've been feeling myself a bit drawn to various Ceremonial magics [I don't K the word]. Lately, I've been finding Goetia to be of particular interest.

So far from what I've found, it involves the conjuring of various demons [It's based on Christian idealology, but I would call them "Malign spirits"], and bargaining for effects. This bothers me marginally, because the Goetic spirits are not known for honesty, or benevolence.

My question is, should I bother? I get good enough results just asking for help, but I do like complexity, and think maybe this could be something worth trying.

Thanks.

I just logged inon Yahoo!Answers. I opened the Religious section, and was reading the questions on the first page.

It seems, as an Atheist, I'm intolerant, mean, and I always shout ignorant nonsense. I specially seem to be very mean to Christians.
It seems all Atheists do these things, according to the question I read.

Since I wasn't even online, I wasn't aware of the fact I had done this over the last hours, but sorry. Really.

After you accept my apologies, can we please stop this insane generalizing that's going on in this section?

Just think about it for a minute...how is that in the slightest bit rational? What do you know from your experiences here that would lead you to believe that? Life is not organized, life is not fair, life does not lead up to some great climax or reward... and Even if earth was created, it sure as **** isn't created by some All-powerful, all-loving, omnipotent dude. Love is an emotion..Where does this guy keep his Medula Oblongata? All-powerful...hmm...not powerful enough to stop the holocaust before 10,000,000 people were tortured and killed, was he....and then there's wars, and hunger, and catastrophic disasters, and suicide bombers....wait wait, maybe he is powerful enough and just doesn't want to stop them....but then there's that all loving part...Just none of it adds up. It makes more sense that we are all here by some natural conditions, that weren't created by anything but randomness that spirals into order..humans..confusion...beliefs in gods....Can anyone help me understand?

Science explains this through evolution:

the formation of goose bumps in humans under stress is a vestigial reflex; its purpose in humans' evolutionary ancestors was to raise hair to make the animal appear bigger and scare off predators. Raising the hair is also used to trap an extra layer of air, to keep the animal warm

And yours is? Please tell me God made it that way?

My fiancee and I can't stop making out in bed. That's as simply as I can put it. We're both Christians who just want to do God's will and wait it out. We've already been together 1.5 years but the wedding is pretty far off in the future due to financial reasons. Plus we're still both in college and would like to finish school first. We know we should avoid situations when we're both in the same bed, napping or whatever, but we can't seem to stop it! Everytime this happens we feel awful... but then it just happens again and again. We are both very well self-controlled, sure about our marriage and sure about saving sex for marriage. How can we stop this cycle? We want a blessed, pure relationship in the eyes of God until His timing joins us, but we're also crazy about each other! Please help... especially older people who have experience and can lead me spiritually. Thanks!
