This is one of the best explanations of why God allows pain and suffering that I have seen. It's an explanation other people will understand.

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed.
As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God, the barber said: "I don't believe that God exists."

"Why do you say that?" asked the customer.

"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist. Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving God who would allow all of these things."

The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument. The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber: "You know what? Barbers do not exist."

"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!"

"No!" the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."

"Ah, but barbers DO exist! What happens is that people do not come to me."

"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer. "That's the point! God, too, DOES exist! What happens is that people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

If you think God exists, send this to other people---If you think God does not exist, delete it!

Interesting story, but there is only one flaw...

By the nature of this story, anyone that Follows God will not suffer. Now we can both take a look at history and see that isn't true.

Good try though, best wishes.

I know he does. even though I don't go to church often I feel a deep personal connection to him I confied all my most personal feelings to him and ask him for forgivness and guidence when I need it he has blessed me in so many ways and brings me peace when I feel worried or down and I never get tired of thanking him for my family, friends and my country the best thing to do when you are having problems is to put it in gods hands and trust in him God Bless

AH, but what this implies is that if you know God you will not know suffering and pain, and this is NOT true. Don't mean to be rude, but there are holes in this explanation, just like every other one I've heard.

Since its inception, the USA has been a solidly religious country. The original settlers brought Christianity with them, along with their modest possessions when they set sail on the 'The Mayflower'. Most of our laws have their basis in the 10 commandments, indeed our currency even bears the legend 'in God we trust'. For many centuries, Christianity has been the dominant religion and culture, with all that that entails. Nowadays many people are starting to take a fresh look at their religious beliefs, in an attempt to reconcile them with the modern multi-racial multi-sexuality culture we live in today.
They are starting to question the fundamental Christian beliefs that have served us so well over the years, in the light of certain events which seem to indicate that Christianity is no longer working. Recent incidents demonstrate that Christianity is failing us as a nation when it comes to instilling even the most basic moral values. The question raised by all this, is should the USA continue trying to mold Christianity into something relevant to today's depraved modern world, or is it time to try something else ?
For me, there are really only two great religions which are up to the task: On the one hand, there is the modern religion of Scientology which would seem to sit well with the technology driven world we live in. It offers a full audit of one's personality, and seems to be quite professional, and up with the times. Probably quite appealing to 'geeks' and 'nerds'.
On the other hand, the moral collapse of this great nation of ours can possibly only be saved by a religion which is less forgiving, and a bit more prepared to lay down moral standards than Christianity. That religion is Islam.
Scientology seems at first sight like a good choice but I think Islam pips it at the post (primarily due to its hard line on criminals).
Now, it might seem like a very bold step to change your religious belief systems just like that at the drop of a hat. But think about it. 90% of Americans simply adopt the religion of their parents, with no critical thought process whatsoever. You would not buy a Ford car simply because your Father drove one. And you certainly would not wear a dress (if you were male) just because your mother wore one. It is simply inertia.
I propose that a law should be introduced, making Islam the official religion of the USA. And that steps be taken toward introducing a system of 'Sharia' to our prisons and courts.
I know some people might find it heavy going at first, but is abundantly clear the USA has lost its moral compass. Forced conversion to Islam by all American citizens would seem to offer an expeditious and attractive way out of our spiritual and cultural vacuum.
Imagine how many current moral debates could be solved by Islamic punishment. Those criminals at Lime wire and Google or You-tube, would be among the first to suffer forced amputation for theft.

Ok than, Use your little theory for Zeus, Ra, Allah, etc. It works for all of them!Heck, use it for vampires. You truly need to separate logic from superstition.

I think it's likely that god exists.

i think it is foolish and unwise for anyone to assume that the man-made cults, like christianity and others, know who god is or what god wants.
