Are these people nuts?

2006-10-03 08:00:20 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous

Pretend I'm an atheist and I'm "applying" for a religion, for lack of a better word. If I were to ask you what makes your religion so special and why I should join it, what would be your answer? Why should I believe your religion over others?

Whats the point of wasting time ?. If god was not just a fable character, wouldnt she have been more satisfied with people actually helping other people rather than being selfish for their own (after death) aims ?.

Describe the religion.

Joseph Smith said the Book of Mormon was more correct than the Bible.
"I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." (History of the Church, Vol. 4, page 461)

question. God who MAKES history God how is in control
Da 4:25... acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes.

WHY do you think God was not able to keep His word (bible) safe. are you saying God was not able to do this. God who gives wisdom and power This is a INSULT to God MOST HIGH and really sad that you believe this INSULT

Da 2:21 He changes times and seasons;he sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.
Da 2:22 He reveals deep and hidden things;he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.
I say this in the hope of REPENTANCE

In that question, LUCKY U made a very good point. Religion doesn't come up much in everyday life for most people. If it does, do you act the same way to your friends or strangers you may have just met? Or is it the factor of anonymity that causes some people to be so brash about their opinions?

If so, does it make you think twice about the hidden thoughts of your friends? Maybe they're in R+S too, saying the exact opposite of what you say. *shrugs*

This borderlines with the question SPOOKY just asked. I just realized that after typing this whole thing out.

If scientists were able to extract sufficient intact DNA from the remains of an early ancestor of man (such as Homo habilis, Homo erectus — or even Neanderthals) for the purpose of cloning the primitive human-like creature for scientific study, on what basis would you approve or disapprove?

For example, would cloning an ancient man be the same as cloning an animal, in your opinion, or would it be more like cloning a human?

Lucifer means "light bringer/ morning star" which is also the name Jesus refers to as himself in Rev 22:16 ...

"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."

according to her family. I asked a question earlier about a woman being beaten and not being allowed to divorce her husband in the christian faith. My question this time is....

What if the husband leaves the woman. My Grandmas Husband left her for another woman, leaving her with three children in the 1950's or so. She met and remarried many years later. Her family says shes going to hell because she remarried, even though it was the asshole husband who left her in the lurch.

Christians, what say you??

People say that God isn't real because we can't see him, but we can't see the wind either and no one disputes it's real, think about it we see the effects of the wind not the wind itself, just like we can see the effects of God. I don't mean to offend anyone by this it's just so many people seem so pasionate that there isn't a God, but if I thought there wasn't a God I just wouldn't care. Why are people so passionately against at the thought that there is a God?

Do you behave in the same manner to the people you meet in person as you do to those you meet on the internet?

Does the absence of a "face" to go with the name make us less human???

For those who were offended by my "faceless" term in my last post, my apologies. This was where I was leading. I meant no offense.

Elaborate, if you will.

Im curious how many of the beleivers here feel about abortion, and about the death penalty.
GW Bush, leader of the free world, was the one Govenor of Texas who presided over more death row inmate executions than any other Govenor in the state's history. Yet, he wants to outlaw abortion....
Does your faith not teach that all life is precious?? Why is it that death row inmates lives are worth less than that of an unborn fetus?? Granted, these people have commited horrible acts - but who are we to judge them and send them to their "maker" so to speak? Can people not change? Killing them does not allow them that chance.
Im not speaking of abortion as birth control either - what about if a woman's life is in danger from child bearing? What if your daughter is raped by a lunatic with AIDS and gets impregnated?
Is that fetus still worth more than the life of your child, your wife, or a death row inmate??
