I've always taken it to mean, "How you behave when no one else is looking."

this is a very rubbery word. There are characters in cartoons, plays and the word alone and the plural no doubt share something in meaning. To have character is to act the same or in a manner recognizable by an observer. The same as what? the same as you did last time. To be a character is to have a group of traits which make you easy to disinguishable from most other people. So to have character is to practice life in a fashion that is concievably recognizable as "you" at all times, thus if you do a bunch of wierd stuff then you are acting out of charactor. I see no particular link between character and good and evil yet I think sometimes people see that as true. Like when they say he has character. Usually this does not mean that the person is always bad but that he is the same in a good way.
yep it is a rubbery term

In the Old Testament "The Word" was direction or instruction from God. In the New Testament; Jesus was the Word, Holy unto God giving direction and instruction to the believer. Jesus was the embodiment of the gospel truth, the good news.
John 1:1
The Eternal Word ] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14
[ The Word Becomes Flesh ] And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 3:34
For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

I guess most people only read titles...
Here on Yahoo Answers, I believe a character is someone playing a role, ie: the WSID?R, Trickyhuh,I'm scared,Whynotaskdon, TC, etc.
I have a semi-character myself, in another account.
Tough most characters are nice and just plain funny some of them, can be quite rude like this section because of all these funny characters, they are quite original!

I think character is defined by integrity or the value we place on ourselves along with self awareness. What are our values and principles that we live by? It is also defined by our maturity, a balance between the courage to do things and accomplish them and the careful consideration of the outcome for those around us. It is also defined by our mentality. Do we operate in life with a scarcity or abundance mentality?

Two ways:
1. Character being things that are good and or bad about a particular person.
2. Sometimes we refer to someone as being a real "character",this kind of means they are a wise guy.

Your character is defined by what you do, not what you say or believe.
Whatever you do matters, and yes one person can make a difference with their actions or words.

The Word (caps and all) represents God's written word, as that Word coming alive.
Christ is God's Word come to life, if you will.
Therefore the character of The Word is precisely the character epitomized by Jesus.

An illusion, character is defined by our thoughts, and can be changed or destroyed if your will is strong enough.
