The King James uses the term Lucifer once (Isaiah 14:12). In context, it may refer to either a bright star or the name of the king of Babylon. It seems to be an apt description of who or what he was before the fall.

"Bright and morning star" is a phrase used often for Jesus, sometimes phrased as 'daystar'. It may even be referenced in Numbers 24:17. Stars are often used to reference Jesus in one way or another, such as Matthew 2:2

Apparently, you think that because two people are referred to as 'bright stars', they should share some characteristics? Isn't it more interesting that Jesus and Joshua are basically the same name, or that Isaiah said that we will call the savior Immanuel?

Lucifer
(l´sĭfr) [Lat.,=light-bearing], in Christian tradition a name for Satan. In the Vulgate, Lucifer served as a translation of the Hebrew epithet meaning "Day Star," a name associated with the presumptuous King of Babylon in the Book of Isaiah. Some early Christian writers found a parallel in the Gospel of St. Luke, where Jesus refers to Satan falling like lightning from heaven. On this basis they identified Isaiah's "Day Star" with Satan and concluded that there was scriptural authority for designating him "light-bearer." In antiquity Lucifer was also the name given Venus as the morning star.

Day star... NOT morning star. You will be able to check these Hebrew epithets through Columbia University or do a search on the search engine of your choice. They are not the same. Nice try, though. At least you are thinking.

Morning Star refers to:

Sun rise
Last stars at dawn
Prejudgment state of Lucifer
Revelation (knowledge)
Another descriptive term for Jesus

May its morning stars become dark; may it wait for daylight in vain and not see the first rays of dawn,

Job 38:7
while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

Isaiah 14:12
How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

2 Peter 1:19
And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

Revelation 2:28
just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give him the morning star.

Revelation 22:16
"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."

The Hebrew word, helel, which is translated Lucifer in Isaiah 14:12, wandered into English through Greek and German. In the Greek we have Helios, the sun god. In German, this became hellen, from which came the word helder, meaning, "clear" or "shiny." But there is also a sense of "blinding," that is, blinded by the light, in this; and thus helel entered English as "hell," a covered place, a place of darkness as if blinded, a place "far off from God." So, the source of our word hell is the helel referred to in Hebrew. Helel, when split apart can read bright or clear god, or god of hell. The early Christian church clearly understood that Helel was a proper noun, and that Lucifer matched him not only in the meaning of the name, but also in character.

So, what happened that the early Christians knew Lucifer as Satan, and that Satanists know Lucifer is Satan, but modem Christians say that there is no Lucifer and that the title of morning star, a title claimed by the Lord Jesus Christ to himself, is to be applied to Satan in Isaiah 14:12? What happened started at the time of the Reformation and the Enlightenment, when men began to question the veracity of the text of Scripture. New archaeological discoveries and information about Babylonian, Canaanite, Greek, and Mesopotamian religions were allowed to alter the meaning of the words of Scripture, a "new hermeneutics" as old as Genesis 3:1. The recent movement in Christian churches to place the morning star or day star in Isaiah 14:12 is not only ill founded on historical, spiritual, and exegetic grounds, but helps to set the stage for the antichrist.

Satan is called the God of this system of things.
Satan is called an angel of light, meaning he deceives people into thinking he is good. A lot of people worship Satan as God.
So to them he is the bright morning star.
But it is all a deception and a lie. Everything he is involved with that looks good and wonderful is a lie. Christmas seems so wonderful. but looking into it further, Jesus wasn't born then, that's a lie. Santa Clause is a lie! The evergreen tree was brought into religion by Sun worshipers with the sun candle on the top. So actually most of the things associated with Christmas isn't true. Santa clause or Satan doesn't know if your good or bad. Only God knows that. So we have to ask our selves about everything. Don't fall into the trap of the devil.
Is the Easter bunny real? Or another lie?
Now you see why the bible says the whole world is lying in the power of Satan the Devil.

Figurative language...
The "morning star" is a planet. Jesus is not. Satan is not. The same figure was used in different times and circumstances by different authors describing both. SO WHAT? Nothing exclusive is attached by the use of clearly figurative language. Nothing can PROPERLY be interpreted to say only one of these can be called a planet.

... of course the kjv wacko fringe will come up with their TOTALLY BOGUS claim that by CORRECTLY TRANSLATING the 2 uses of that figure in scripture, modern Bible translators are calling Jesus Satan... they just don't know any better.

Grandma Susie: light bringer/day star and morning star are EXACTLY THE SAME. You just don't understand the language.

Lucifer is a good name when Satan rebelled he lost that name and besides a lot else
Satan means adversary he is humankinds adversary
Star of the morning can either mean the sun or the last star to fade before the sun comes up
it would be worth studying the origenal text to see the differences in language as I suspect they may be different
what a good question I commend you in your search tis a noble way

Sure. Lucifer is a fallen angel. He was full of glory and was one of the great people in the pre-mortal life. However, he fell from glory when he rejected God's plan and led a rebellion against God. (see Isaiah 14:12 and for even more illumination, Doctrine and Covenants 76:26)

You can't read the Bible without believing it first. The Holy Spirit guides you through the good Book dodging any potential conflicts. You don't so much have to read the Book to become a believer, as be a believer to read the Book. All true believers (and most phoney ones) know that Satan means Adversary....if you are being adversarial then you are Satan or at least being controlled by Satan. Furthermore, Christians see no need to 'muddy the waters' with reason, unless reason is predefined to acknowledge that the Bible is flawless. Circular reasoning is actually an asset which wraps things up neatly like this:-

I like to feel warm and fuzzy,
If a loved one dies, I will not feel warm and fuzzy,
the Bible tells me that my loved ones are not really dying,
So...I can continue to feel warm and fuzzy.
I like to feel warm and fuzzy,
and on...and on....
