Why in this situation did he or she not help me? I was in a very dark emotional place awhile ago. I was on the verge of suicide and crying and praying and begging to god to let me die, or take my pain away. I begged and begged and he did nothing How can you say there is a god, am I such a bad person that he makes me suffer,Why? What could I have done that was so bad that I deserved to be punished like this? All I want is some peace in my life.

If there is no God and all religion is made up by man, why do people try so hard to prove it wrong? One would think people would need to prove it RIGHT, wouldn't they? Better Question: Why is it that when people talk about and/or attack "religion", they automatically bring up Christians/Christianity, God, the Bible, Muslims and Islam (in that order). These people will accuse the perviously mentioned of being intolerant and bigoted because they "force their beliefs on other people". (The last time I checked, I was an adult and no one can FORCE me to believe anything I don't want to believe, but that's beside the point.) For me to say it's wrong for you to "force your beliefs on me because you're intolerant and a bigot" is an intolerant and bigoted statement in itself! (I'm just sayin...)

Bottomline: If you KNOW something doesn't exist, why try so hard to prove it? Shouldn't the burden of proof be on those who say the "thing" DOES exist?

Exodus 20;
2. I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3. Thou shalt not have strange gods before me. 4. Thou shalt not make to thyself graven things, nor the likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, nor of thos things that are in the waters under the earth. 5. Thous shalt not adore them, nor serve them: I am the Lord thy God, mighty, jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, 6. and showing mercy unto thousands to them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Is it possible that Saul made the massive mistake of creating a cult who deliberately flaunted the First 2 Commandments, creating the worship of a god before their true god? Did Saul create, in his establishment of his new cult a "likeness" unto god, in violation of verse 4? Is the worship of Jesus a violation of verse 5, "worship and adore" another before god?

We already don't believe the Bible, why would reiterating some words we already deem meaningless be any more convincing?

Oh, and spare us the "god loves you," crap. Just looking for serious answers here.

Many Christians talk about a worldwide government that will signal the second coming, which they call the "New World Order". I was wondering if this is specifically mentioned in the bible, or if it is just how ultraconservatives have manipulated the bible to suit their purposes of being anti-UN or other global efforts.

Has anyone ever stopped to think that no religion has it all right but no religion has everything wrong? All religions share the same basic ideals and morals. Most religions share the idea there is one almighty power over the universe. So why do we argue. Why do we allow petty beliefs to cause wars and insanity? I used to be Chrisitan but I found that Christians are self-rightous. I believe the catholic church and islamic religion both created views for self gain of governing control.
Why doesn't anyone else think about these things or believe this? Why does every religion think they have it flawlessly right? It's disturbing. Life is about living, about finding love and about learning what love is and what life means. Nothing more. So why must we put ourselves to fight when we should be searching for meaning to life. Knowledge, understanding, love, compassion. These are what makes life. Why are so many destroying these things just to prove they're religion is right?

In popular culture, cherubim and seraphim tend to be depicted as numerous and not very powerful, whereas archangels are rarer and more powerful and elevated. Yet in the hierarchy of angels, seraphim and cherubim are actually the highest, with archangels being second-to-last. What happened? Was there one or a few people from whom the misconception spread -- some key literary or artistic work perhaps -- or was there something more general?

Really, do you really need to jump in on every question and say we are stupid, sheep, fools, or idiots (to quote several responses) just because you choose not to believe?
Our belief (in whichever deity/deities we believe in) is just as strong as your non-belief.If I ask the difference between God and Allah and you respond "There is no difference because there is no god", do you really think I am going to say "Oh my gosh, (s)he's right!How could I have been so foolish?" just because you called us "brain dead Muppets"?(Actual quote from one answer, by the way.)
Why don't you go onto the art questions and say "There was no Impressionist School, you arty-farty posers!"?Why don't you mock goths in the fashion questions?Why not waste your time laughing at Dada-ists, claiming Dada is not art, it is anti-Art?Do you have nothing better to do?
Or more to the point, why can't you accept and respect other people's beliefs instead of forcing your beliefs on us, and mocking our beliefs?

No matter which deity is uppermost in my mind at any time, I generally always believe subconsciously that I will still be there somewhere after I am dead. Does everyone agree and feel the same way, or is there anyone who truly thinks they will cease to exist after death?

This is for those who claim atheists hate God.

If non-belief is the same as hate, why do most people hate S.C. and the E.B.?
