All religions are going to be false to someone.

Hi there, whatever you believe does not matter as long as it makes you a good person. Remember 10 commandments, those rules are the main rules of all religions, and if 1 of em not fit the one your are believing, then that would be the example of a false religion and answer to your question.

Define "religion" and "false".

re·li·gion (r-ljn) KEY

NOUN:

Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

That pretty much covers every belief system out there...so no religion could be called "false" in that regard. If you are asking about what religion is the "TRUE" one...there's no objective way to tell.

There is no such thing as a false religion, not in the sense where people can know for sure. Whatever a person chooses to believe, all other religions will appear false in there eyes. All religions have followers that believe they are the one true religion, and because of that, none of the religions are false according to the believers.

1) a religion that denies Jesus is a false religion
2) a religion that dies either when the founder of that religion dies, or shortly thereafter, is also a false religion.

I'm not talking about sects, I'm talking about actual independent religions. Since Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and the Baha'i Faith have all survived years after their founders have passed on, this is one proof that these religions are true religions.

If you are going to comment on another religion here are some rules of fairness.

Krister Stendahl, who is the Lutheran Bishop of Stockholm and the former dean of Harvard Divinity School, gave a little bit of guidance on how to deal with other religions and on how to understand other religions.

He laid down three rules which might seem obvious but they are often ignored in trying to understand other faiths. One of them, the first rule was that when you want to learn about a religion you should ask the adherents to that religion and not its enemies. Now that seems fairly obvious but it is ignored an awful lot.

The second rule was: Don't compare your best with their worst, which is often done. We Christians believe in the ideal of loving everyone, but the Muslims look like those terrorists. What you do is take the worst example of the other guy's religion and compare it to the ideal, almost never reached in your religion and that's apples and oranges. If you are going to compare terrorists, you should compare Christian terrorists with Muslim terrorists. If you are going to compare ideals, you should compare the ideal in the other faith with the ideal in your faith. If you are going to compare your saint to something in their religion, find one of their saints and compare them. That's the only fair way to do it.

The third one was his principle was to leave room for what he called "holy envy." By holy envy, he intended the idea of looking at another faith and saying, you know, there is something in this other religious tradition that I really envy. I value it. I wish we had it. I can learn something from it.

Can you imagine what conversations with people of other faiths would be like if they followed Dr. Stendahl's three rules? What a much better dialogue we would have. Many more meaningful and deep discussions would be enjoyed.

False religion is anything made up for human gains. Islamic terrorists have a false religion. Scientology is a false religion because you have to pay to believe. Catholics have a false religion because most of their beliefs were made up through the rennaisance period when the church was taking over europe. Giving false information to blackmail kings. Anyone remember the spanish inquisition? Perfect example of what a religious leader can make up to drive people to the brink of insanity.

What do you mean by religion?
You can believe just about anything you want. If you want to worship dirt that is your religion...dirt worshiper.
However if you are looking for truth regarding what it means to be human I would suggest you examine the claims of various beliefs around the world and find which one answers the deepest needs of the individual with a unified Field of knowledge that covers all the questions regarding the problem of suffering in the world, and what can realistically be done about it.
For me personally I have chosen to believe in the claims of Christ not because of how I see it worked out in the lives of others but for how the evidence of creation, the internal change in myself, the archaeological record and what I require of a "God" to demonstrate regarding truth, stacks up against the claims of other beliefs.

I agree Scientology is total bull shyte. It was the brain child of some guy who out of the blue said the best buisness idea someone could come up with would be to invent a religion.
