This is for those who claim atheists hate God.

If non-belief is the same as hate, why do most people hate S.C. and the E.B.?

Please do not blaspheme the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny is my God(dess) of choice.

To Sabina:

Based on the answers given, it is obvious some (most?) are missing the point.

Non belief is not the same as hate Mr JT..... non belief is a choice, as is hate. Also professed atheists cannot hate what they don't believe in.... that would be unreasonable and nonsensical considering their ideology.....

I dont think i have ever heard of anyone hating Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. I know the Easter Bunny comes from the old Pagan story, but Santa Claus is actually based on St. Nicolas, he was a very wealthy man who would go around at night in his town and put money in the houses of the poor people. Now people have added there on twists to it.

As for Santa:
Well, they may be creeped out by the idea of how he 'sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake...' Perhaps in today's society, they think Santa's a voyeristic pervert?

And the Easter Bunny:
I'm guessing the whole 'bunny delivering eggs' thing may be confusing them. They think rabbits should provide rabbits, not decorated chicken eggs. They worry, I think, that they've taken one too many hits from the 'happy pipe' that "Uncle Bob" convinced them to try 30 years ago.

Mostly, many people today don't believe in magic - they close their minds and hearts to it, so they can't even understand the concept. These are the people who think Rudolph's nose glows because he had several drinks too many, and the tooth faerie loves hockey simply because she cleans up after the games.

They just don't get it.

The Easter bunny and Santa Claus is for the kids, people just dont remember what is really important to childhood. Arent they some of the best memories? You dont forget Santa and Bunny.
People and their beliefs are just the way it is. However it is what they do with their life is what is important. What Would Jesus Do?
