Why do some people (mainly Novus Ordo Catholics and Protestats) think they can interperate the bible?! Who knows what Jesus meant when He said certain things but you're not supposed to read the bible and think you know what Jesus meant when he said things due to it being translated so many times! Everything in it is true, but you can't just read it and fully understand what it means.For example, when it says in the book of Genesis that the earth was made in 7 days, who knows if that REALLY meant 168 earth days. Qit trying to interperate what you can't understand. You're not a prophet or God or God's personal secratery.

I mean this god character has to be one of the most evil characters in the whole of fiction. Here is an omnipotent creature that killed thousands of innocent animals in a flood to get back at the people who didn't do what he said, who he gave the ability not to do what he says to in the first place. This is a god who says that anyone who suggests that he isn't the real god should be killed very benevolent of you god isn't it considering you gave them the ability to do that knowing full well that they would use that free will against you. This is a god that decided instead of just making the pharaoh let his people go free though he would kill all the innocent 1st born boys in Egypt very benevolent of him isn't it. And they are just 3 examples if you look there will be more and yet they still insist that god is all loving. How stupid can you get?
Obviously god isn’t real.

It seems all they do is complain and whine constantly. I mean they even go back 100's of
years in history to make their claims of "Victimhood". Right now there's a 19 year old
kid in New York crying over his version of the crusades.

Why do people try to prove the Bible wrong by saying that science is right and the Bible's just a mythical book that people made up thousands of years ago? Nowhere in the Bible does it have stories about deities or Goddesses or even Gods. Just one God. Over the years science has actually been proving the Bible right not wrong. I kind of see now why Christians today are so afraid to stand up for God and speak for him. Not only does it have to do with lack of faith, but a lack of courage too. Whow ould want to face a bunch of angry, hypothetical atheist who say "You Creator doesn't exist!" "He's just made up." "It's all a fairy tale." I hate it when people think they're smarter than everyone else, so much more better. I'm not tryin to convert anyone here so plz don't quote me, but I'm just asking now, if God doesn't exist, if the atheist are somehow right, what's the point of life then? What happens to us when we die? We just go into this big nothingness of blackness? If nothing happens

I was baptized as a baby but never confirmed. I picked a confirmation name though, but I didn't want to go through w/ it. (My parents were pretty lenient). I'm 25, so what do I have to do now to become Catholic? Also, can't I just go to church & sit in on services w/o fully becoming a Catholic or am I unwelcome? Thanks everyone.

I went to church when i was younger and realized quickly that I didn't believe in God or Jesus. I had to take Confirmation, and i was told that it was to learn about god. Well, what I didn't know was that I would be graded in this "subject." I couldn't believe it, i was given a grade on not only how much i knew about god, but also how much they (being the pastor) thought i was "Into It." (I got a C-) I already had trouble grasping the fact that there was this "higher being" and this made it worse.

This basicly made me ask the question: If there was this "higher being" out there then why was my little brother killed by a drunk driver when he was 7 yrs old? I mean, if that could happen with this "higher being looking over us" how could anyone celebrate this? Now, (3 years later) i'm 19 and my parents are very religious people and they basically don't want anything to do with me. What should i do? I love my parents but with this between us, i don't see them changing their mind.

I'll use the story of Noah's Ark for an example....supposedly God told Noah to build the ark and told him the exact measuments ect. So if he could hear God speaking to him. Why can't we hear him speaking to us today. I personally have never heard of anyone who has recently heard God's voice with their ears. Maybe I'm just confused?

I was at a hair stylist today, and while we were discussing what color my hair should be dyed, she said "and that will be great because it will bring out your lovely Jewish skin"

I was a little dumbfounded (since I'm Italian, and Catholic plus, she didn't even know my name at that point), but ignored it.

Then later on they offered me a free makeup application & I thought why not, and she said again something like "and we'll use black to bring out your Jewish eyes"

I think this woman that said this was Jewish (I think she was wearing a star, but I'm not sure.) Why would she assume this? and also, why say it twice like that & what exactly is "Jewish skin"?? light? dark?
Was she just trying to provoke a reaction in me? I got the feeling she kind of thought I was Jewish, wanted me to be, but wasn't sure & kept prodding.

What does everyone think? btw, I don't mean to offend anyone by anything I said, I just wonder if anyone Jewish or w/ similar experience has a comment. Thanks

They interpret things a bit differently than you. I'll give you a for instance before you go off with the scripture on me. All Christians believe that there would be no heaven for anyone without Jesus, but many of us believe that if people attempt to be "very good," we'll say in a manner as close to Jesus as possible, they may not be sent to hell. Do you hope that this is the case?

I was driving past a church today, and the sign out front read, "Are you full of Christ, or just a fool?" It takes more than that to even begin to offend me, but it got me wondering. Why did this church think that was okay? For that matter, why do Americans apparently think that it's okay? If it had been a mosque with a sign reading, "Are you a Muslim, or a retard?" you can bet there would be an angry mob.
