And please no, "Because the Bible says so," I'd appreciate real answers, not from robots.

I always thought that the idea that I would just no longer exist was much scarier than the idea of burning in a pit. I beleive that if we are strong spiritualy, that we continue to exist after death in some form. If not, then we just cease to exist.

Also I think that many of our images of hell were dreamed up much later to scare people. I don't think there was much evidence for it in biblical times.

This is actually a very good question. Ever since God stopping being perceived as a vengeful god and become the forgiving god, the idea that a forgiving god would send people to "Hell" for eternity, never to forgive them again, really doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

So most sources now suggest that going to Hell is a personal choice - a blatant rejection of God's forgiveness. The New Church actually believes that bad people are actually happier in Hell, which kind of negates the whole "eternal damnation" aspect.

I believe in God. Hell is the grave. God would never be so cruel to burn anyone forever. Do you know of any parent who loves their children who would hold their hand over a fire and burn them for punishment? God loves us more than we humans could ever love anyone and if we (in our right mind) would never do such a thing then. Why then would God ever think to burn people forever. In the scriptures when people were sacraficing their children in the fire God said that sort of thing never came up into His heart.

God will forgive a life packed with sin, even on the tip. keep in mind the thief that became into crucified next to Jesus? He asked to be with Him in heaven and Jesus stated specific.(Luke 23:32-40 3) it is the main dazzling subject. specific, Hell exists yet God provided an relatively rather common thank you to be saved from it.

I believe in God, and i believe that you create heaven or hell in your own mind, here on this earth, in this lifetime. Heaven and hell are metaphors for a state of mind. not actual places. Only stupid greeks and romans who mistranslated the bible and then mixed it with their pagan beleif in Hades and all that, thats where the idea of Hell fire and the devil and all that came from.

Me!! ^_^ I believe that only Satan and his demons will be punished in hell. 144,000 of the chosen people will go to Heaven to govern paradise and the other chosen ones will be in a new paradise on Earth. People who don't follow God's laws will die forever. Yeah...
