And another thing...we do not worship idols or Mary. Mary gave birth to Jesus....In our minds thats a good thing. We ask Mary or any other person that we believe to be in heaven to pray for us because just because they are dead doesn't mean they can't talk to God.

I think it's because they aren't really knowledgable about Catholicism, so they just rely on the ignorant and prejudiced tales other people tell them. And yes, it's incredibly frustrating. I hate it when people tell me I'm not Christian or that I worship idols or that I think Mary is God (Mary died for us? Since when? Countrybumpkin, where did you come up with that one?). I DO read the Bible, thank you very much, and I DON'T think that the Pope has more authority than Christ. I've even heard someone claim that Catholics get dual citizenship with the Vatican (the country) when they're baptized. It's enough to make you want to pull your hair out. Really the only solution, though, is going to be a slow education. Correcting people when they get it wrong, explaining what we believe and why. Showing everyone through our actions that we really are followers of Christ.

I think you may be suffering from a persecution complex; I can say personally that I dislike a number of other sects much more than the Catholic church, because at least Catholics don't show up at my door telling me how I'm going to hell because I don't practice what they're preaching -- you at least wait for me to come to you seeking religion. Perhaps some people may focus solely on the priests who used their position to take advantage of young children and demonize the entire religion as a result. And I suppose some might even go back as far as the Crusades and the Inquisition as evidence that Catholicism does whatever it wants in the name of religion, but that could be said of just about any religion at some point or another -- people of many faiths do despicable things in the name of God, using their religious beliefs as justification for what they do. Their day of reckoning will come , as well, but they make the rest of their denomination look bad. I'm sorry to hear that you feel you are looked down upon by others for your faith, but perhaps it is simply an opportunity for you to look within yourself and discover if your faith is well-placed. If you are honest with yourself and find that your faith is still strong in the face of the criticism of others, you can feel confident that you are still following the right path. Good luck to you, and God bless.

I don't hate Catholics. But people probably perceive the Catholic religion as being "bad" because of the whole Priest molestation scandal and how Father Joseph Maloney did nothing to help the priest or the victims.

Your comment:

"We ask Mary or any other person that we believe to be in heaven to pray for us because just because they are dead doesn't mean they can't talk to God."
________

Actually, the Bible teaches that you are incorrect. You really are praying to dead people. They do not hear your prayers. They do not give or relay your message to God.

There is ONE person that hears your prayers. Jesus Christ. He is the one that hears and relays your prayers (through the Holy Spirit) to God the Father.

1 Tim. 2:5 (NKJV)
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,

Your prayers are falling on deaf ears. Please pray through Jesus ONLY.

Hi friend

Can you handle the truth?
If so here is why the Catholic religion is hated so much.
The CatholicChurch were the ones that killed the real Messiah and rewrote the Scriptures to fit their religion.
This is a fact you can prove to yourself by finding out why your religion changed the Sabbath and why?
The real Messiah is a Hebrew He has a Hebrew Name and it is not, nor will it ever be Jesus.
Should you want the truth, may I offer you a web site that will have all your answers?

because you people are sheep. you're not even allowed to read your own bible. plus, the vatican KNOWS of sexual abuse by priests against children and all they do is move them to another church, until they were exposed.

Also, catholicism IS a sect of christianity therefore is christian. Do you know what a christian is? It is a person that follows the teachings of Jebus. Do you follow the teachings of Jebus? Yes? They you are christian. Changing the meaning of a word doesn't change the fact that you worship Jebus.

It's really sad when an atheist knows more about your religion than you do.

I dont hate Catholics, some of my best friends are Catholic. It is what the Roman Catholic church teaches we dont agree with. The virgin Mary did not die for us, If she did, why would our Lord Jesus leave His heavenly dwelling place? So they are teaching that Christ's sacrifice was in vain. It is through grace we are saved

Its because their churches are much more beautiful than other Christian churches and they are jealous. SInce they spend so much time on the arts, others believe that they have forgotten the actual WORD of GOD.

I'm a (very) lapsed Catholic, so lapsed I'm trying for excommunication. I don't hate the church, it just held nothing for me. I never felt anything spiritual from it.

So now I walk my own path and occassionally poke fun at mother Rome.

we are the orginal christians.....

were sometimes misunderstood just because we pray 'holy mary's' they think we don't worship Jesus and God... i always pray 'our father' first and then 'holy mary'

No we DON'T think that mary or other saints... or the pope is God

Jesus is the saviour and the only way to God....
