Is this the beginning of the Age of Aquarius as promised by the hippie movement in the sixties? Or, is it the fault of political correctness - as intimated by the article - that we now have a generation of superstitious intellectuals?

I'm trying to find similarities in overlapping religious practices.
Is baptism like an initiate ritual or ceremony.
Reminds me of shapeshifters also.
I wonder if it is meant to be taken more seriously, as it seems like a New Year's Day.
A day for change, even reminds me of the symbolic phoenix.
If I could wake up tomorrow and decide to be a more cuirous determined adventurer, would things like baptism help instill certain levels of trust and a shared experience that my peers have also experienced.
Any help? Or goof references to check out. Where did it originate pre-christianity?

Are we not the only reason known to man for the existence of God?

Some believe that all of this is an accident. I believe that "everything I have seen teaches me to believe in a Creator that I have not seen."Look at the balance, the symetry of things that are, barring human destruction of course. Plants make our air, we animals and humans create their air. The law of supply and demand? Our very ability to create and to question life and creation. Animals live based on instinct, for better or worse man choose his reactions. Of all the possibilities why this planet, of all the life forms why man? Of all the egg and sperm that could have joined why you and I? Do you not see the beauty? The work of art? Does it not point to an Artist?

"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."
Albert Einstein

Einstein is arguably one of the best intellectuals who ever lived. A scientist who believes in God. Hmmm.... interesting. Looking at his accomplishments, it's hard to believe he wasn't divinely inspired.

What difference does it actually make if your parents are Christians and have you baptised as a child and covenant with God to raise you in the faith? Is there a 100% guarantee of salvation? If not, what's the difference in being in a covenant relatinoship and not being?

Some seem to believe there is a futre out there full of events, people, decisions, etc... apart from what God has planned will happen. How can anything exist apart from God planning it? There is nothing out there in the future for God to view that is unknown to him or that he does not already know. The reason he already knows is because he planned it. His knowledge is based upon his planning not the other way around. Therefore God knows what people are going to do because he has planned what they will do.

So, what evidence exists that the Christian God created the universe, as opposed to some other God?

What evidence exists that the alleged Creator of the Universe wants to be worshipped, or has even bothered to convince humans to start a religion?

I'm sure those of you who claim that the universe is proof that the Bible is true will not refer to the Bible to prove that God is true (circular logic proves nothing).

And yes, this is yet another one of those questions Christians run from as it requires a justification of faith rather than a condemnation of homosexuality (this is getting predictable).

My goal today my aim, as insignificant as I am, is to spread light, joy, and peace. I may not be a great light blazing ahead for others but I am content if I can be even a match used to light anothers light. I cannot do great things but I content myself with the knowledge that I can do ordinary things with great love.

Do you know, brother, that you are a prince?
A son of Adam. And that the witch of Kabul,
who holds you with her color and her perfume,
is the world?
Say the words, I take refuge
with the Lord of the Daybreak.

Avoid the hot breathing that keeps you tied
to her. She breathes on knots and no one
can unknot them. That’s why the prophets came.

Look for those whose breath is cool.
When they breathe on knots, they loosen.

The old woman of the world has had you
in her net for sixty years. Her breathing
is the breathing of God’s anger. But God’s mercy
has more strength. Mercy is prior to wrath.

You must marry your soul.
That wedding is the way.
Union with the world is sickness.

But it’s hard to be separated from these forms!
You don’t have enough patience to give this up?
But how do you have enough patience
to do without God?

You can’t quit drinking the earth’s dark drink?
But how can you not drink from this other fountain?

You get restless, you say, when you don’t sip
the world’s fermentation. But if for one second
you saw the beauty of the clear water of God,
you’d think this other was embalming fluid.

Nearness to the Beloved is the splendor
of your life. Marry the Beloved.
Let the thorn of the ego slide from your foot.

What a relief to be empty!
Then God can live your life.

When you stay tied to mind and desire, you stumble
in the mud like a nearsighted donkey.

Keep smelling Joseph’s shirt.
Don’t be satisfied with borrowed light.
Let your brow and your face illuminate with union.

Since Evolution and Intelligent Design have both never been proven fact, I have investigated an alternative theory, since kids in school should have all the sides, and then since they are smart they will decide for themselves.

Do you believe, as I do, that the following is evidence of Unintelligent Design?
Evolution would have you believe the following happened on accident. Intelligent Design would have you believe the following happened on purpose.

The only logical explanation, is that the human so complex, had a designer who was stupid and drunk. How else do you explain a creature as this whose head kept getting bigger until he was robbed of his life in his early 40s because of his disease.

This was done intelligently? Please. Let the kids decide. Do you believe as I do that this is evidence of Unintelligent Design?

Who are they to judge? I try not to judge others but athiest always try to judge me as not being informed. It so happens that I have studied philosophy for years and I am a college grad. Athiest are just trying to throw piles of mud at me but they are just throwing it at themselves because they have no one else to lash thier anger out at. No, I am not judging, but I am making an observation. No matter what kind of offesive thing an atheist says, he/she will never hurt me because I find strength in God Almighty!

The ancient monks withdrew from the world into their cells to reflect and foster an inner peace. We who live in this world cannot all become hermits and mystics but we all need to find that inner peace. Have you found your "cell" inside your soul to withdraw and experience this inner peace?I believe that if we do not we will find ourselves tossed and battered by this life and it's cares.
