So, what evidence exists that the Christian God created the universe, as opposed to some other God?

What evidence exists that the alleged Creator of the Universe wants to be worshipped, or has even bothered to convince humans to start a religion?

I'm sure those of you who claim that the universe is proof that the Bible is true will not refer to the Bible to prove that God is true (circular logic proves nothing).

And yes, this is yet another one of those questions Christians run from as it requires a justification of faith rather than a condemnation of homosexuality (this is getting predictable).

Sinyckel: Not trying to prove the non-existence of a deity. Just asking Christians why they claim that the existence of the universe demonstrates the Christian God exists.

RB: All holy books claim a god created the universe. As do all religions. As for the universe expanding, which Psalm are you referring to? As for "scientifically measured quantities", it places date for the beginning somewhere around 15 billion years ago. Know any Fundamentalists who would agree with that age? The Bible also says God stopped the sun when Jericho was attacked. To do that the planet would have to stop rotating. "Scientifically measured quantities" state that if that happened, we'd all hit escape velocity and be ejected into space. According to the Bible, the value of pi is "3". The Bible is not known for its agreement with "scientifically measured quantities".

Paul McDonald: You've argued for the existence of -a- god, not the Christian God. I'm trying to see the connection between the existence of the universe and a -specific- God, rather than a generic god who may or may not care about worship or any ordinance in the Bible.

Choose Reality: I have faith in myself to be a good parent for my son. I have no "proof" of what I'll do in the future, but I know what I have done in the past and have faith in my abilities to handle the future. I have faith in my son that he can achieve his full potential. Faith is not always a bad thing. Sometimes faith (aka hope) is all we have.

Hey man, who needs facts, logic, or solid argument when you got FAITH? "Well, I just feel it in my HEART that it's true, and I just KNOW that it's true...."

The Bible is taken as God's word to us. If it is, then what it says will be correct.

Lets take the flood as an example.
The Bible says that before the flood man lived to a very old age (most likely plants and animals also). Be foe the flood there was a ice shield over the earth (that would keep out harmful rays) (air sample from amber shows that the air pressure was twice as high and so was the oxygen level, just like a barometric chamber - very healthy). It says that there were dinosaurs, they are called dragons, Leviathan, Behemoth, and unicorns.

Evolution says that the last dinosaurs dies millions of years ago and that man did not come around for hundreds of thousands of years. They have never meet.

I do not know what other religions say (I will leave that to others).

There are many place in this country and around the world were there are footprints of men's and dinosaurs in the same rock (even overlapping). This shows that Evolution is wrong. It also shows that the Bible is true.

There are other examples, but I do not know what you are looking for.

Hmm....well, since it seems you know the anwser, why ask the question?
But, in actuality, there is a proper logical point at this.
First of all, scientists like to hang onto theory, until it's considered fact, like Darwin, or, hokum, like the Black hole deal with Hawking.
Now, they believe that the universe is oh, a few Billion years old....like, 352.9 billion, give or take a billion.
Now, by that estimate, dang that's an old rock.
However, this little goodie, throws a wrench in the workies.
About 1.2 miligrams of cosmic dust falls on moon, the earth, and the planets, every year. By this spectrum of logic, we'd be buried in the stuff, but our atmosphere stops a lot of it.
However, the moon, doesnt' share a dense pack of air to stop things.
When Armstrong landed the Eagle, on the moon in 1969, he found enough dust, to make a footprint....when if scientists were right, it would have sunk out of sight....which is why the lander was built with telescoping legs.
Where's all that dust?
By the gradient of dust, you can conclude, that the earth, isn't nearly as old as they'd like you to believe.
A young moon?
Now....here's the tie in, to God's fingerprint for creation.
Several places, regarding the old testament in the bible, corrospond to features, aorund the earth....some, even tie into the belief in dinosaurs....and the belief that the earth, earlier on, was more acclimated to our larger kin.
In the beginning, when the earth was sparcely inhabited, aka, garden of Eden, there was two people...and one big planet....what was covering the other 99.9998 percent of the planet? I'm pretty sure the Lord didn't make a cue ball with a little grain....so there probably was other events going on....after all, he built it up, and started to create from there.
As well, going further into the bible, does mention some creatures, you can only wonder at, what they were....the Behemoth, or the Leviathan....
Lastly, is the question of the Ark....as recently as 1973, people had seen a large, 2-3 story tall structure on the slopes of arrarat, only to be told, to leave, in the story that it's a sector off limits....but in actuality, the muslims don't want it found, because it would ruin their diety's exisetence as being the holy one.
And as well, would ruin several other religions.
God's actions, if you want to read about the effects, of what God's action are on a larger scale, check out a book called World's in Collision....Velosky, did a lot of work, and was ridiculed by scientists....but was well thought up, Einstein died, with a copy of his book on his desk.
Oh, and a last tidbit....did you know scientists orginially thought Venus and Earth were identical, in atmosphere, design, and habital?
Go take a breath on that planet....and see how long it takes you to die.

The christian God is the only true God... Why because Jesus Christ proved this by his resurrection.... The muslims, also believe in one God, but they don't believe Jesus was the Messiah. The Christian God is the God of the living, and not a God of the dead.. Although Egyptians, Hindus, may have many gods, they are merly idols. How do we know this.. Because the bible has sufficient proof. If you ever read how Moses plaqued Egypt you would know their God was the only true God. Of course I know we can't look into the bible to prove anything about the bible.. But if you wanted to know if someone lived in the white house, wouldn't you have to go inside to check.. Of course I'm not saying that if you read any random book, that its true... But if you read it, and there substancial evidence, then yes it is..

God promises those that seek after him, will find him.. If you truly desire to be saved,, then search for the truth...
Matt 13;44 "Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found, and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field."

Their proof is faith, which really isn't proof of anything other than they have the capacity to turn their brains off and justify anything at face value.

What is faith? Faith is willful ignorance. It's a statement claiming i don't know but im going to believe anyway regardless of any evidence. So what's so great about faith? I get berated by believers all the time saying "you have no faith..." like it's some kind of bad thing to always consider what i believe in carefully. Having faith in something doesn't make it true.

Nah, I'll never run from justification of faith! Belief in God requires faith, and that's scriptural (but I won't quote it because you said not to).

The evidence that exists that I see for God is more historical in nature rather than physical evidence.

The physical evidence in the universe, to me, proves that there was not a "big bang" and that the earth is not "billions of years old" and that "evolution" is not the source of all life on earth.

So if we take away those ideas, all that is left is Creation, God the Creator, and my faith.

The Bible is the only Holy Book that states that the universe had a beginning ( see Genesis) and that the universe is expanding (see Psalms). These are scientifically measured quantities.

Yes Sinyckel, you CAN prove a negative. Even the statement "You can't prove a negative" is a negative statemetn begging to be proven.
Go to yahoo and look up prove a negative.

5 not = 2

Can be proven

There is no Ford Explorer in my room. Etc...

None. However, since we can not prove a negative, stating that there is not God is an equally large leap of faith.
