What difference does it actually make if your parents are Christians and have you baptised as a child and covenant with God to raise you in the faith? Is there a 100% guarantee of salvation? If not, what's the difference in being in a covenant relatinoship and not being?

The word 'Covenant' means to be in a formal binding agreement or to be in agreement with.

In the Bible this would mean a person who is in agreement with a binding oath or contract with God.

Parents who dedicate & baptist their children are only doing what the Bible calls 'setting their child's foot upon the path of rightousness.'

However, no ones parents can guarantee their childrens salvation.

A covenant relationship with God can only begin when that child has reached a maturity level to understand what it means to be in a covenant agreement with God, and to be able to understand the Bibles teachings. To be in a covenant relationship with God is to abide by those teachings..

However, there are many people out there that call themselves Christians, yet don't agree with 'everything' that is in the word. That is because the 'Word' was written by man, and man is falible (can make mistakes). So in truth, all believers should do as Jesus said, "Work out your own salvation."

Every relationship with God is different. No one person is going to experience & percieve God the same. It is a personal walk.......

You still must accept Jesus as Lord. The covenant was with the parents and God for training the child, not the child's salvation.

A child of the covenant has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. It cannot be inherited from parents.

It makes no difference whether or not your parents were Christians, or if they had you baptized as a child. What makes you a Child of God is faith in Jesus.

John 1:10-13 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as receive Him, to them , to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

According to John, you have to be born again to be a child or God.
