Your question is in reverse, You should have said, without God what purpose would we have in existing? God does not need us, God is always, even before he created man or anything, God existed before anything was formed or made, So really at what we can imagine as the very beginning of anything, God was & is & will be forever, God had no beginning nor ending, So before he created anything, everything was a thought in his mind, The meaning of the word god is an object of worship. So since there was not anything as what we call the beginning, God was not God but a Spirit, since there was not anything to worship him. Then when God Created things, then That Eternal Spirit Became God, because then he had something that can worship him. If Mankind will not worship God, then the Rocks & trees will worship him. Mankind has many GODS now, but there is only ONE TRUE GOD, & he is a SPIRIT that has created all things, He is the God Of Abraham, Issacc, & Jacob, anything else mankind worship, they are worshipping a false god. Your automobile can be a god if you worship it. But there is only one true God, & we must worship him IN SPIRIT & TRUTH.

Can you comprehend God's understanding? If no, don't ask!
And God does not need to have a purpose for existing. He is the origin of the purposes of all under Him!

this question is covered nicely in the book Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsh
it suggests that although god was present before the existence of man , that man is a reflection of god and through man god actually learns about him/herself , that through our learning's about compassion , anger , love etc that god is also learning
a perfect being isn't perfect if they cannot comprehend simple emotions
a very good read and it puts it much better than i have , highly recommended

No. God does not exist for a reason. He is.
God is a trinity and perfectly happy living in love as a communion of the 3 people in that trinity.

Most religions have their Gods in His Kingdom already, with Its inhabitants, flora&fauna. 'We' probably are His hobby! (many authors&thinkers have said so in different ways: Thomas Hardy, Shakespeare etc.) 'We' do make it more interesting for Him, of course! As for spiritual view (as different from religion), (the concept of) God exists within us, though in the normal run, we are all the time seeking Him elsewhere -- until, in a few cases, some thing happens to guide us to seek within!

Excellent question. Is there this supreme being out there who, after creating the whole universe, has nothing better to do than to sit around worrying whether someone is masturbating or not?
No. It is just another myth made by man.

As he's God I guess he would just start again and build a new man-kind. Hopefully, learning from the mistakes he made the first time around.

He has all the purpose that He wants. We are just a creation, remember? He created everything you see and even do more. He created you because He wants to have someone to enjoy His creation with. Wouldn't that nice and sweet?
