God can only be "obligated" to do something when He says that He is going to do something. In other words, we can't come before God with some argument about why He somehow is obligated to do something in His creation based upon what we think is right or fair because we don't have any basis to put our creator and provider under obligation to us his creatures.
However, if God says that He is going to do something, like save all who put their trust in his Son, then we have the basis of his promise to rely upon. Because of who He is, a good and perfect God who cannot lie or be unfaithful, we can count on Him to live up to every promise that He has made.

No. God is not obligated to save anyone. It is not unfair. God saves some just because he wants to. If God was obligated...then salvation would not be a gift.
Romans teaches us that He does choose to save some. Why? It brings Him glory and worship.
The fact that he saved me is utterly amazing to me. I don't deserve it and I can't boast in my salvation... There are many more people that are better than me...smarter than me...more faithful.
So, my salvation brings me to my knees in worship of a wonderful God, that chooses to interfere into my life and save me.
Praise be to God.

Biblically speaking God is not obligated to save people. He is however oblligated to offer salvation, it is a gift, freely given, freely accepted. Then the ball is in your court. God says choose ye this day whom you will serve

No. Biblically speaking, God was very nice to give us existance. That we fell provided no requirement for Him to die for our sins.
He chooses to give us free-will; as long as we have free-will, we can choose to not be saved.

No. God was obligated to make us a way of salvation (which He did). But since we have free will, then we have to choose Jesus.
