Agnostic here, not trying to change anyones religion.

Do you believe, as I do, that since Evolution is a Theory that has never been proven as a fact, and that Intelligent Design is a Theory that has never been proven as a fact, that students should be taught the alternative Theory of Unintelligent Design?

Why just look at the evidence, the human being during a day loses what physicists call "dark matter" and emit strange smelling "cosmic gasses". These are stupid things that the human body does, clearly evidence of having been designed - unintelligently.

Again, since Evolution has been been proven as a fact, alternatives should be taught in classes in America. Intelligent Design has never been proven as a fact.

What do you think yahoo answers, shouldn't Unintelligent Design be given equal amount of time, with Evolution and Intelligent Design?

Seems pretty sadistic, that a God, with infinite foresight, would go through with a plan that would throw the majority of the souls into the Lake of Fire. He has created an excess of suffering in existence. Why would he do that? Couldn't he just keep it to himself and not create this miserable damned world? Doesn't he feel our pain even when we're in hell? Doesn't his whole plan seem kind of sadistic to you? (He knew beforehand where every soul was going to end up, even before he made us...)

Any good Christian can tell you that God loves each and every one of us and feels our pain as we are damned. He knows our every action before we do it. He knows the hairs on our head, etc... Why create so many souls he knew were destined for damnation? (Don't tell me he didn't know exactly where we were going. Sure he gave us freewill, but nonetheless he knows exactly how we're going to use it.)

A truly loving and foresightful God would have spared the masses such misery, right?

Imagine that one day God himself descended from the heavens and stood before you. He proceeds to perform all manner of miracles and wonders, until you KNOW beyond all doubt that He is the Lord. He then plucks your Bible (or Torah, or Koran) from your hands and, with a snap of his fingers, burns it to ash.

"That is not my Word," God informs you. "It has been so corrupted by charlatans and hucksters, so abused by power-hungry zealots that it has lost all connection with My original, True Word." God snaps his fingers again, and a new book appears, floating in the air before you. "THIS is My Word," God informs you, "pure and unadulterated, directly from me. Mankind is finally ready to hear it. Take this book, and deliver its message to the world." Then God vanishes, leaving the book behind.

The message and laws of this book are completely at odds with everything your current faith has taught you.

Would you renounce your current faith and follow the path laid out in the book?

My Christian friend recently posed a question about the "gift of salvation." Which led to this question.

(assuming the bible is true and applying general Christian doctrine)

How can anyone consider salvation to be a "gift" when the recipient is not only required to worship the giver, he is also required to make payments on the gift?

Would you consider anything else given under those conditions to be a gift?

Thanks for your answers.

DISCLAIMER: I am an atheist, and happily so. Please do not preach, just answer the question. Be concise (short & to the point). Thanks, again.

Our son is 16 months and we weren't sure if we were going to raise him Catholic (my husband's family are Italian Catholics). If we decide to go the Catholic route, is there an unspoken cut-off date after which it's sort of too late to have a christening?

The Sermon on the Mount reads in part: New law and old law

Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

I believe in God and Jesus, but that's two Gods. Is that two Gods or One? Will I meet God and Jesus separately or have they merged back into one entity in heaven?

Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, we prophesized in your name, and cast out devils in your name, and worked many miracles in your name'.
And then I will say to them, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people'."
-Matthew, 7;15-23

The majority of Christians today are the people Jesus is speaking of in Matthew 7:15-23. They think they won't burn because they claim to priase Jesus and work in his name, but they will, almost all of them, burn in hell, no matter how Christian they think they are, right?

I have just asked a question about The Sermon on the Mount and have had two replies - presumably from Christians who have more or less accused me of being judgemental. For a start I already said I am not a Christian. Secondly is this going to be the way Christians get around tough questions, accusing people of being being judgemental because they point out that Christians are killing people? This all sounds sounds like burying your head in the sand to me!
