I'm not a christian and cant say if this is right or wrong but , i did read something else that explained this wonderfully
a rich man one day wanted to show his son just how the other half lived , in hope that it would help his son realise how great it was to be rich
he took his son to a poor family's home , a run down bu idling in the middle of nowhere
the son stayed a while , got to know the family and how they lived before returning back home
on return the dad asked " tell me son what did you learn about being poor "
the boy answered that he didn't realise just how poor he was
the father was shocked at this and out of curiosity for the strange answer asked the boy to elaborate
the boy answered
where we only have a pool , they have a lake in their back yard
where we have only from here to the security fence , they have an entire field and woods as their grounds
where we only have a store to get our food , they can go out into the woods and fields and choose what they wish to eat
yes dad i can see how poor we really are !
i thought this was a nice perspective on seeing things differently , and how although some people may be rich materially , true wealth is appreciating what you have and the love you have around you

"Happy are you who are poor, hungry, weeping and those of you who are hated, driven out, abused, denounced."
The message here is best understood as an internal condition, not an external one. Meaning, those who are 'poor, hungry, weeping' on the inside are the true seekers of god's message.

Read for yourself, and see. The rich already have their reward. There is no other reward for them...
but...
The hungry will be filled.
Those who weep will laugh.
The poor in spirit will be blessed.

you forgot to keep going..."because the kingdom belongs to them". The poor are more accepting of the truths of the bible because their hope rest in the hope of a paradise on earth. The rich are having their full recompense right now and they feel they have no need of a hope or future hope, therefore it is very unlikely they will survive to see that paradise on earth because according to them they are living a paradise (money).

Jesus meant that they would be happy because they would be consoled, and there would come a time, due to their faithfulness and patience during trials, that they would receive eternal rewards. Jesus came to bring comfort. Also people then thought if you were poor, it was because you sinned and were cursed. Jesus was indicating that they could still be blessed, and not looked upon as cursed.

The Bible is true. All of it.
Being rich is nice, but yet a very complicated life. Being poor simplifies life down to the main thing: survival.

No, its a call to leave the things of this world and find true riches in God
Luke 6:20 (Amplified Bible)
Amplified Bible (AMP)
20And solemnly lifting up His eyes on His disciples, He said: Blessed (happy--[a]with life-joy and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, apart from your outward condition--and [b]to be envied) are you poor and [c]lowly and afflicted (destitute of wealth, influence, position, and honor), for the kingdom of God is yours!

Just because you don't understand it, that doesn't make it false. Perhaps the fault lies in you...
The whole point of that passage is that the greater blessings are not where we might think, but rather in following God.

I don't know if it is true or false, I'm sure it has been misinterpreted. The ability to create abundance is a spiritual faculty.
