old school: I was wondering if someone would call me on miscategorisation. It's just a wee play on words...

This question was just good old-fashioned silliness - a pun on the creationism vs. evolution debate. Only one person answered it this way, though, and that's because he'd never heard of the music groups in question...

Genesis were solid, repetitive, never really did anything new and sort of found an old formula and stuck to it like glue.

The Monkees were created by a genius impresario with a very bright idea (manufactured boy bands). They had a competitive advantage, due to the TV series, and well-honed songs, and the idea subsequently took off and has been much replicated and has evolved into one of the most successful paradigms in the music industry.

Despite their proven success many still consider them a bad joke.

And I actually DO prefer the monkees, anyway.

Genesis was a real band with real talent.

While I don't deny that the SINGERS in the Monkee's had talent, they were a fabricated boy band, designed to combat the Beatles.

I like the Monkee's, don't get me wrong... but they really aren't in the same caliber.

Genesis was one of my first favorite rock bands. The Monkees were just kind of phoney to me. Phil's "Land of Confusion" appears to once again do a good job of describing my country. There is a lot of Kun-Fu-Tse-ing of the country lately, which can get very obnoxious indeed!

All Dolenz could do was run around proclaiming " I'm a believer"

Gabriel used a sledgehammer

I don't know who Peter Gabriel or Mickey Dolenz is. As for the first question. All I know is that I was created by God. I don't know if God made us to evolve or not, and I don't care.

We'll go with Pete, Jewboy. But the Monkees are a goodtime band. I like the Animals and the Zombies.
