BonnyRogue: Sounds like you're under the influence of a cult right now. Better get some help with that. The rage you feel but can't control is your logical brain telling you to get out now!!! I'm speaking from direct experience, which I am entitled to share with others. Ask yourself, why are you offended by those of us who are glad to be free of the mind numbing effects of religious fever? Huh?!!!?

Paul S: I agree that BonnyRogue is not qualified to answer this Q? I appreciate your thoughful response, though. I too have begun my journey to understand the objective universe. It's so much more wonderful, isn't it?!!!

Well, kind of like jumping off of a cliff after being chased by people wanting to kill me.

I'm free of all of that obviously idiotic belief stuff, but now there's the great challenge of figuring out what to do next. I've been away from religious belief about 24 years, and in that time I put some significant effort into coming to understand consciousness and nature, not through new-agey readings and quasi-religious practices, but by taking science classes, earning 4 degrees, and spending time in nature. I think I understand things far better than do the vast majority of people, and I can see that I still have a LONG, LONG way to go. I find that exhilarating - much better than pretending to already know all the answers, as the religionists would have it.

[Wow, Bonny's arrogant, ignorant answer is one of the best examples of "the pot calling the kettle black" that I've ever seen. ]

Well, I just switched from one religin to another, but the religion I switched to teaches how important it is to have an open mind about all things. It even preaches that science is a tool with which I can use to enhance my spiritual practice. (Quantum physics, etc.)

In the process of my spiritual path, however, I also learned that all religious and spiritual paths possess their own validity. It is the religious fanatics with closed minds that give religion a bad name. I think the world would be a better place if we could all agre to respect each other for their own beliefs.

It's important to question everything and know WHY you believe a certain thing rather than just going along with it because some holy scripture written thousands of years ago says so. People need to think about it more, is all. :-)

I do not know the closest I came to joining a cult was when I was baptized into the mormon church. I honestly felt dirty and no amount of bathing would get me clean. This is not a put down just how I truly felt.

Wow. That's unbelievably pretentious and rude to make such comments about a person's own personal beliefs. How does it feel, then, to walk the earth with no purpose bigger than your present moment, and nothingness and void being your life's ultimate destiny. How sad.

PAUL S - My comment was based on the asker's own rude and ignorant statement. I'm so sick of you atheists putting down people because their beliefs are different than yours. You assume we are stupid for believing in things we can't see with our eyes and it annoys me to the point that I could literally crack you in the head with a crowbar. Honestly. I know that's not Christian-like, but I am imperfect. When you Nazis stop bashing believers, then maybe we can all respect one another.

And another thing, how is my comment so ignorant. Nothingness upon death is your motto, is it not? And living for the moment is what you people pride yourselves on. So why get mad at me for stating such?
