witness anything(but not change or be a part of) that happened in the bible, what would you want to see happen?

It can be New testament or Old testament.

I heard from many Christians that the Old Testament law about food is
not applicable as Jesus made all foods(whatever you choose to eat)
clean. That's why they can eat anything if they chooses to.
So, can you eat urine, faeces, human flesh(not by killing but after a person dies naturally or by judicial execution), which has very similar taste to pork according to some tribes in Papua New Guinea,
dogs, cats etc.
Don't say that some of them are harmful to health. I can argue that
pork might be also damaging to you health.
So, do you think God forbade something previously to Jews just for law's sake. Or because they are harmful.
If they were harmful and it's the cause of the law why he later changed his law?
Does God work without any compreensible rationality?

For instance, why answer a sincere question about God or the Bible, with something like "it's all a fairy tale," or "God doesn't exist?" Do you think that you're going to make all the little Christians go off in the corner to cry? Do you think you are going to help "disillusion" someone? Does it just help vent your spleen? If faith bothers you so much, why hang out in a category devoted to "religion and spirituality?"
As a disclaimer, I want to say that I appreciate questions and answers that challenge and make people think, but come on, enough of the "there is no God, so neener neener neener..."

Why is it that some people put more time into trying to prove that God doesn't exist then trying to prove that he does exist?

If we're all descendents of "Adam and Eve", there had to have been incest right from the start. What are your thoughts? I'm just curious.

Some say yes, some say no, what do you think?

Does God know the future? Is it as fixed as the past? Do I have the ability to alter what God already knows will happen? If I can't change what is inevitable, am I to blame and worthy of hell? If God knows the future already, doesn't this limit his own free will to do as he pleases now as well? When was this course of events decided uopn by him? What was his will before that? Why would he ever change his will if it was already his perfect? If he was able to change his will then, why can't he now? If his will has always been his will and will always be his will, doesn't he have his own hands tied just as much as we do?

Self-contradiction and has a tendency to open Pandora's Box.

In my high school Bible class (I went to a christian school), we often got into this discussion. I would like to hear your opinions: In Genesis 1:1-2 the Bible says: "(1)In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (2)And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." Okay, we always thought that this indicated a major gap of time between verses 1 and 2. Why? Well because why would God create the earth, and then put nothing on it ("...without form, and void..."). We saw this as an indication of another civilization that God created before us, and then destroyed, as will happen to THIS world someday. So between the 1st and 2nd verses there could be centuries and centuries of time not recorded, maybe because God didn't want us to know too much about it. Then it picks up again with: "And the earth was without form and void..." because the previous civilization had been destroyed. We never delved too deeply into this, as my Bible teacher felt he didn't have enough information to back up his theory, but I think it is very interesting, and I would like to know what you all think.

Why have so many people in the west (both europe and the U.S.) turned to eastern religions like Buddhism, Taoism... and the like. And embraced such methods like Zen diets, meditations, and yoga?

What are your thoughts. Don't critique the religions... I want to know why westerners have turned to the eastern religions. What do those religions offer that the western religions (Judaism, Christianity, etc) don't offer.

On the above question i got half of the answers telling me how silly i was, for stating that God changed the Ten Commandments. It always saddens me to see how many so called christians know so little about their own Bible.

Thank God that one answerer provided me with an accurate link, which i like to share here:
http://www.positiveatheism.org/crt/whichcom.pdf

So, i ask again: God didn't change the Ten Commandments? And which are the real ones?

pls try to give some serious answers, because i'm truly wondering...

I was jogging just now by the woods. I thought, " yea! The bat flying by is like my gothic brother..alll punked out and stuff..yea !". Then I saw the owls.and said, " yes...they are like my sisters-always with that stuff around their big eyes ...yea !". Then I heard the crickets singing and I said, " yea! they are like my jamming guitar brothers..strumming their guitars and singing all night and stuff..Yea! " I felt like Glenda the good witch on the Wizard of Oz with all my little relatives around me. Then my third cousin on my mothers side the frog jumped out and freaked the poo out of me...I ran all the way home ! ".Phew !! Dont you think Im progressing ? Can you add anything to this insight ? Am I getting close ?

I know it sounds like a lame question but I have heard the line "God gave us the ability to have re-creational sex, not recreational sex." Honestly it sounds like a bias statement to be. I am a baptist born and raised woman. I have also heard (correct me if I am wrong) dolphins and humans are the only mammals in the world who have sex for pleasure. So considering the fact that I believe and have been taught that God created all creatures on earth, why is it so wrong for we as humans to have sex for pleasure but it is just considered nature with other animals?

FYI - I am not condoning irresponsible sex. I condone sex in a monogomous relationship where both parties have strong feelings for each other. Please do not misconstrue my question. Thanks!

We know nothing. No matter how hard we try, we will know nothing. The information that we have may be false...and it probably is false with all of the possibilities we have presented to us.

So why argue about religion? Either side (Athiest, Christian) may be correct, or they both may be wrong...there may be a whole new possibility of how we came to be we have not thought of yet, and it may still be false.

So why do we try to prove something that we think is right if we actually don't know if it is right or not? It's not very Zen.
