For instance, why answer a sincere question about God or the Bible, with something like "it's all a fairy tale," or "God doesn't exist?" Do you think that you're going to make all the little Christians go off in the corner to cry? Do you think you are going to help "disillusion" someone? Does it just help vent your spleen? If faith bothers you so much, why hang out in a category devoted to "religion and spirituality?"
As a disclaimer, I want to say that I appreciate questions and answers that challenge and make people think, but come on, enough of the "there is no God, so neener neener neener..."

I am not arguing with Atheists right to answer or ask questions in this category. I am merely trying to point out how annoying it is when Atheists answer a question about God with "God isn't real." Does that challenge people to think?

Yes, Magpieix and Luvnu, I totally agree. It is just as annoying the other way around.
So far RoyBoy has pretty much hit the nail on the head. Thank you for putting it all in the proper perspective...

Do you people even READ the questions??? My problem is not with Atheists answering questions regarding God, faith, or anything else!

I think the problem is a little more complicated than this.

It boils down to too many variables. How is the question asked, who is asking, which is the subject?

You know i ask many questions here. My beliefs are always challenged, because i do believe in a sort of God, not the biblical one, not the quran God. I also have the feeling that maybe there is no God. Or maybe there is. So i ask various questions.

When i ask questions i think i'm the perfect example for the 3 most silly answers on this forum.
on one and the same question i get:
-There is no God, you stupid...etc
-You'll burn in hell for saying that, you stupid....etc
-In the Quran it says the same, yet slightly different, you stupid..etc

I always seem to insult everybody :))

But i just wanted to point out that i agree, but it also has to do with how the question is asked. It also is usually a reflex-action. people read 3 question in which their beliefs are attacked, and answer the fourth with "god doesn't exist, dohhh"

The simple truth on this forum is: true answers are hard to find...

Well the thing is that to answer your question you invite people to question your religion. The problem people have with christians is that you preach at everybody regardless of their faith or lack there of. Christians have little or no respect for any other religious beliefs. Christians throw their faith into everything, imagine if you had a boss, or a person on the street, a ballplayer insulting your sencibilities by pushing their religious ideals onto you at every turn. That is what christians do to everybody else. Turnabout is fair play. Many of the "there is no god" posts cite more evedence to support their claims than any christian post I have seen. Why can a christian try to convert others but an athiest, or an agnostic not be allowed to? Isn't that a double standard? If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen and don't have debate with people of different religious ideals.

i answer this question on both sides of the fence. Whether it is an atheist baiting or a christian doing it( a quick review of questions shows it does happen both ways) the answer is Inadequacy. If I make you look small then I am big. Does not matter what religion or non religion the person comes from. It says that the only faith they have is in themselves and they are actually playing God. Sadly enough too is the fact that most people do not realize that is what they are doing. They live a life totally unconscious of their behaviour and how it affects others. This is also called extreme selfishness or being egocentric.

I'm more interested in how come people of all religions keep on spouting out faith. They talk about faith like it's something that you have control over.

Faith is not something you choose. You either believe or you don't. It's not a choice anyone makes. You cannot sit back and say. Yup I believe in God today. To do so is a like, it's a direct insult to God.

Faith isn't something you choose, it's something you find.

Oh, and atheists tend to answer questions about religion for the same reasons that religious people answer science questions.

Because they can.

What's wrong with questioning? Asking questions is what makes people smarter and solves problems. I used to be a Christian, then I got an education and liberated my mind. You should have no problem with people questioning you religion, as some people have serious facts that need to be taken into consideration. You want people to hear both sides and not just you own, right? Rofl

If you take the time to read other non-Christian threads, you'll see the same childish banter being used by Christians there as well.

So, to answer your question, it isn't about whether these individuals are Atheists or Christians or Mormons or Muslims or Jews or Wiccans ... it's simply a matter of maturity.

But, at the same time, I see a great deal of assumption by individuals here that this is a forum for use by Christians exclusively ... it's not ... it's a public forum on Yahoo! Answers for all members to parcipate. If you're only seeking to speak with individuals of a specific denomination, faith, or others who will pat you on your back and tell you you're right ... then you should probably look for a private forum elsewhere.

Because some hardcore atheists are just as bad as some religious fanatics and have the same mentality of going around and masking their insecurities about their lack of faith by badmouthing the faiths that do exist. I make no differientiation between a religious fanatic and a fanatical atheist...as a matter of fact I think some atheists are religious fanatics without the religion.

I think even the atheists are people and deserve to express their opinions because after all; all opinions are right. Have a great day. I love your neener, neener, neener part. Excellent way of expressing your sentiment. Thank you. I hope to use it someday.

We have to separate the sheep questions from the goats questions I guess. Test and tried the spirit of the question and ignore the ones with the hidden motives and critical agendas. True atheists stay away period and don't waste their time in a section where they know the will be put in the line of fire. Weak atheists wants to be in the spotlight and draw attention to themselves. Notice the ones who are really doing the bashing and insults didn't post on ur question!

How is what you complain about atheists doing any different than Christians trying to go all evangelical every time an non-Christian post is made? If you a see a post by an atheist (which you can normally discern within the first few words), skip it. Nobody is forcing you to read anything (as far as I know).
